Re: TEBA built-in hob gas control knobs

Thanks so much for your reply. The model of the hob is GH60 (TOA21).
A gas maintanence guy did come around once and tried to put them on and he said that there is normally a little tiny latch that will hook under the springs that is broken and that is what keeps the control on. Do you know if I would be able to purchase this model replacement knobs and how much approximately they cost?
Thanks so much for your help

Re: Bosch 6312 Dishwasher: No Heat

davepi wrote:I am an electronic engineer and am shocked at Bosch’s attitude to the control panel problem. It is clearly a design fault whereby the PCB designer did not allow sufficient copper for the relay connection to the heater. Bosch technical support even had the cheek to suggest that this track was acting as a fusable link! A 10p fuse fitted to the PCB would be preferrable to having to replace the entire module at a cost of £100 + labour. Bosch clearly know it’s a design fault and are really not looking after their customers well.

My SGS5312 failed in a similar way and I repaired it myself by remaking the relay connection and replacing the 2003 darlington transistor array chip that drives the relays. Now all working fine. This is obviously not a general DIY job, so I would not recommend this approach for all unless you have access to good electronic assembly facililities.

I too am an electrical engineer and had the exact failure you had – including the need to replace the darlington array.

The small trace leading up the relay pad is done to permit wave soldering to work better. The problem is, it simply can’t handle the load. I’ve lost all respect for Siemens based on that design

Curious as to how you diagnosed yours. Mine was showing up with no display whatsoever after it failed in the middle of a run. I measured a near short across one of the relay coils (oddly a motor relay, not the heater relay). This in turn led me to the darlington array that had somehow had blownout the protection diodes to the common pin 9. This in turn was effectively shorting the power supply and causing everything to be dead.

Interestingly enough, after the repair (I admit to having been apprehensive about the replacement of that SMD) it started right back up where it left off – 13 minutes to go.

    Re: impeller for Smeg DWD44

Just wanted to pass on the rest of my story:

I called in Domex to fix the d/w, who found the leak in the impeller. He said I’d need a whole new motor/impeller assembly, and his office called me back with a price – over 200 quid. I decided to have a look myself, now that I knew where the leak was. I took out the motor and found the problem in the impeller. I posted the request for a replacement on this site and had a replacement by the end of the week, for £20. I fitted it. It works. Thanks Dave, and to everyone for running this excellent site.

Re: Zanussi Dishwasher ZD684 and ZDI6041 inlet valve

    Jon,

Did this fix the problem (getting a new valve) for you? I have a similar problem that 25{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the time, the d/w/ starts the cycle but stops after only using a small amount of water (i.e. not enough to disolve the tablet).

Re: Candy fridge freezer yellow light flashing?

I have a cpc240FFK that does this as well, no other perceptable fault and the manula just says call your dealer or electricity company. The yellow light only usually comes on if you go into “super” exra cooling but its then on steadily. power off/on resets the flashing light but somethings wrong?

As I’ve posted in the washing machine forum, anyone with a vested interest in domestic product performance is more than welcome to contact the DEFRA MTP using the form at this address http://www.mtprog.com/Contact.aspx

We particularly welcome comments backed by evidence that show the negative or positive impact on our policies to reduce energy use. The drive to reduce energy and water use isn’t going to go away, but we must assess risks to that policy.

Re: Has the baby been thrown out with the washwater?

    Kwatt

In reply to this and the tumble drier discussions we have been having – we (DEFRA/MTP) are open to input from anyone (we call ’em stakeholders) who has an interest in appliances, their manufacture, the way they are used etc. We are particularly interested if anyone has reliable evidence about products and the ways they are used that will impact (either negatively or positively) on our ‘policy’ to reduce energy consumption.

I appreciate what you say about the washing machine test methods, and to an extent we agree that they are unrealistic. Unfortunately the bodies that set test methods move at a slow pace and while steps are being taken to ‘improve’, ie make the method more like what people actually do, it is taking a long time and in the mean time the ‘value’ of the energy label is degraded because the bulk of the market has reached the top level. We could also point up the fact that their are ‘tolerances’ on test method results which mean that test results aren’t always what they seem, and we seldom see appliances which perform better than their stated results, although they are usually within the tolerance.

If you (or anyone else on these forums) want to talk directly to the MTP, please use the contact form here: http://www.mtprog.com/Contact.aspx and make reference to the fact that it is domestic appliances that you are interested in. I can’t post my email here, and I am not the person shown on the contact list but your message will reach me.

    Best wishes – Icemaiden

    Hi Dave,

Peter Graney again I’m afraid. No sign of the replacement part as yet. Could be typical French post but they’re usually not too bad.

Sent the wrong part back to Exeter as per instructions..

    Not received perhaps?

    Best Regards

I had exactly the same problem of the loose belt and was convinced I had the wrong replacement belt until I followed the advice above. I wish I had bought the belt from your link. I paid £25 for it at espares.co.uk.
