Re: “Cookers” – supplied by Bernstein Group PLC –

    Hi Dave,

I have a Bernstein “Cookers” model and it appears that the bottom element has just failed.

Any idea how I get hold of a spare ?

    Thanks,
    Rufus

Or I can get the original Brandt one in a few days for you at £30.43 inc VAT and post etc.

The 3 turn one on sparesrus won’t fit physically, it’s for different Homark models and the wattage is 500w more.

    Dave.

is there much difference with the ariston in terms of fitting ? or is it just non original that is the difference?

if it requires modification to the fitting Is the proline one a more suitable replacement ?

on a seperate issue i dont seem to be able to view the forums/ post when i am logged in – any suggestions

Yes it does spin sometimes, probably once in every 10 washes.

I have also tried it empty, and it did spin.

    Re: busy,busy,busy..how about you?

I’m not dismissing private work, but for a four week period it has taken a back seat, here in Rotherham with 12 other washer repairers it was never a large percentage. When you reach the £50.00 mark for labour in this town you are limiting your market.
The get paid on the spot chargeable stuff is fine and banking the monies immediately is ok. However why are you so negative about contract work, I work for D&G, Connect, MFI, CDA, and Maple without hassel from client or their customers, I have no payment issues and the profit margin is excellent.

But the real point is, as the sales of new appliances increases and the new waste directive bites (August 2005)and forces more repairs as a cheaper alternative to exchanging, who is going to do the extra work. Especially when some of you don’t want the contract work.
Is this the reason for Manufacturers making friends with Dasa? If so two of you already don’t want the work!

We might even see “refurbished exchanges” replacing exchanges and the same appliance being recycled to different customers.

    Hi all
Just to let you know I got the timer board repaired at QER and fitted it. I took it to them and at mid day and they phoned me at 9am to say it was ready for collection so good service cost £58 which is better than new board of £140.
The machine is now almost working fully apart from it pauses on the rinse cycle and the fabric con aint going so am I right in thinking its the cold water solenoid. I’ve checked both taps are on but maybe summat has been disturbed when replacing the board any other ideas?

    Re: homark oven hinge block

    Hi K
    Thanks for quick reply

Yes, it is the hinge receiver I am after. I’ve checked both the hinges and both are identical in shape and strength. The runner on the hinge receiver has been shattered, and probably a long time ago, because the door has been harder and harder to shut. In fact it may have been done several years ago when i took the door off to clear the entire oven – and probably put it back on incorrectly! 😳

Do you supply the hinge receiver Keith and if so what price would it be please? And how do i order it from you?

    Thanks
    Bill

Thay element is actually made, or supplied at least, on Elco Brandt built appliances and it was out of stock for a bit not so long ago but I haven’t checked it in a while.

Dave should be able to sort you one out in the morning without any trouble.

    K.

    thanks

i did read a post from about jan time that they were used on brandt and it was from there that i got the proline info.

    thanks for now 🙂

The fridge was still room temp, I’m just a bit worried about what the gas/mist was then filled the room.

    Power Off Plug out………

From the back, right hand lower corner, a small panel will remove from across the appliance, it partially holds the water valve in place..It is from side to side but only remove the screws from the right hand side(5 screws) all at the lower corner. Gently ease upwards and outwards a few inches…The stat is located centrally in the back, directly under the heater position,,2 wires and a small reset button should identify it to you. Screw it off, replace the stat and reverse fit the panel….Should take 10 mins to do.

If the water hose is tight and in your way…turn off the hose tap and remove…..be sure to tighten well and leak check carefully when refitting.Turn on tap.

    Hi Dave,

I was grilling with the door closed. Darn it, I wish they’d tell us these things before we use them. (Admittedly I don’t cook that much) 😳
It’s only 10 months old too!

Ok thanks for that, I’ll have a look at the full model number tonight and get back to you tomorrow?

Do you know roughly thereabouts how much a standard inside panel costs?

Thanks very much for your help on this. 🙂

Re: Bosch Maxx WFL2066 – No motor movement

£20 for an estimate. Was told at the time I booked the call that the engineer be able to tell me exactly what was wrong with it and if I wanted it repaired, there would be an additional labour charge. If I prove his diagnoses wrong, then I will want my money back.
