KeymasterRe: DANCE WITH THE DEVIL
I think we will get closer unity amongst us. We already have made huge gains in that area, we have 3 times as many registered trade members as Dasa has. True the aims are different, but we have potential.
We need to relax and continue introducing UKW for all the right reasons to the rest of the 2000 repairers out there. We should kill at every mention the militant “short and curlies” approach. We won’t need it. The old scots guy(kwatt) is right in the “talking approach” everytime.
We have already dealt with several superb manufacturers in CDA and MFI, insurance companies like D&G and work providers like CDSL, who respond to us very positively.
We have plans for the future of UKW but for the moment spreading the word and helping the public is the way forward. The public recommendations are growing nicely, just wait until early in the new year to see the hits per day!
Because of this site many repairers are up to speed on who to work for and who to say “no thanks” to. Theres more technical help available on this site than a Manufacturer is willing to part with, all any of us have to do is post the question.
Closer ties with Manufacturers may well be on the cards for the right reasons but for now they can watch and read for free on how to promote free help to their public.Kevin

KeymasterRe: Ariston AWD1200 poor drying prformance
Thanks Guys,
I have had the fan/heater casing off and cleared the small amount of dust which had accumulated. I can hear water entering condenser and being pumped out. large port in top of door seal is clear. I have also had hose off bottom of condenser and poked right through – is this where air re-circulates, seems a bit small, only about 1″ dia? I was looking for something of similar size to entry port.
Is lack of reverse action likely to be motor control board?
A bit dissapointed with an appliance which is only three or four years old and is hardly thrashed to death with only me and the wife in the household – whatever happens to Ariston – and on – and on – and……………

KeymasterRe: Whirlpool Service Engineer Recommendation reqd London
It is just marked as Whirlpool Washer Dryer 1000 (as I mention is integrated and is c. 10 years old). If it is bearings as sounds quite plausible is it worthwhile repairing or is replacemnet a better bet (if so recommendations sought!!).
It is actually in a flat that I look after for my brother while he is abroad – as I see from your number you are from up my way – Hertford rather than London, so I would not really want to have to drag you all the way down the M11.

KeymasterRe: Maxol Majestic Duo – Electronic timer
Thanks for all this helpful advice – my new Creda oven arrived today.
I now have a second-hand Maxol to get rid of. It leaks gas form one of its regulators, but the electronic timer unit works perfectly.
Is there a market out there for this, or should I just dump it?

KeymasterRe: working together
Hi Del,
I’m not sure where Roy Fisher fits in this thread. Its certainly not about a work provider or manufacturer…….And if you re read the original post you will see it has always been about two members of this forum and one arseole.

KeymasterRe: working together
Del, yes I was there Friday evening and no way do I need to confront the guy over his views. He can be as rude as he likes, when he likes and if he slags off Ukw in my hearing I will rip into him. However I have no doubt he said what he said and no doubt one of our members is being undermined by another of our members, as I said before I leave you all to the right and wrongs of it.
To me it stinks and I have no regrets about shooting from the hip.
This room is about trust……
I need to have confidence in all members, so we all should think before we leap.Kevin

KeymasterRe: working together
The Dasa constitution is a legal document, remember you are a trade association.
No-one in Dasa is qualified to write that document in this day and age of litigation. It will require professional skills to write and legal costs to analize and ensure it is fair to all with no discrimination etc etc…..
It won’t get rewritten this side of next years AGM.

KeymasterRe: Meetings & Contract Rates
It has to be up to the individual business to determine why they work for Less then £35.00 per call.
Some of them will want that work to stand still and at least retain staff in the hope something better comes along. And who can say that that is not ok for a certain amount of time, bearing in mind that the cost to do a call will vary depending on the size and efficeincy of the individuals.
One thing is for certain, you can’t buy work and survive and you can’t stand still for long. All have to train up to the Maximum if you want to be here in 5 years time. You will need to find the funds to invest into training to make yourself available to the work providers of the time.
The ability to do even a simple P&L will bring home to those who don’t do it their real costs per job and without doing it they just won’t know what the score is.
I now have my minimum set at £37.00 per call and this is working extremely well for us. Instead of having space in the system it has been swallowed up by an increase in private work and the contracts I work for increasing their work to me. Whilst the lower paying and late paying networks need repairers it will increasingly be the lesser skill set business that they end up with as the forward thinkers adjust their working patterns.
You’re so wrong Oldtog to say”you had to be at the AGM to understand” this is an old chestnut and more and more business’s are switching onto the problems. As we all look for more renumeration there is a price to pay and there’ll be a post on that soon.

KeymasterRe: How to reset indesit di 62 after fault code.
Thanks for the reply, I had tried that with no joy. But having read your post I left it off at the spur for 5 minutes and then back on and that worked. So it seems a quick off then back on using the switch on the door isn’t good enough.
Thanks, saved me washing up duty all weekend!

KeymasterRe: Blomberg 1301 Washer intermittently blows main fuse
Electrical tape is not for the repair of cable insulation. It has many uses and this is not one of them.
The frayed cables suggest frayed insulation and that requires immediate action to restore the electrical safety of your appliance. Please take that action if you have used electrical tape to cover exposed wires within the wiring loom
