I’ve had a similar problem and it was the seal under the door. Remove the door outer skin and the seal spans the gap between the bottom of the door and the tray. The machine I saw had a distorted seal and it had popped off the lip of the tray.
I’ve had several Bosch machines with torn or split ones as well. (They are “entertaining” to fit – best way is to release the spring before removing the old seal: doing the job with a sprung – loaded door is like wrestling an alligator).

    Re: Washer flood prevention valves

The most common leak we come across working on machines daily is an outlet standpipe overfilling due to a blockage. The machine will continue to pump out gallons of water all over the floor and the water will probably be dirty to boot.
Hose bursts are very rare as the inlet hoses are reinforced. Checking the grit traps in the back of the valves (remove the inlet hoses and pull out with a pair of pliers: clean and refit) is a much more effective way of guarding against floods from valves that jam open with grit. (again, far more common than burst hoses).
Keeping the filter at the front of the machine clean (if fitted) will also help to avoid problems. Turning off the taps after each wash will prevent any filling overnight. And if you suspect your machine is leaking, get it checked by an engineer ASAP. Being proactive is best.
If you take the above steps you can reduce the risk to negligible at most. Beyond that, then I fully agree with Jim – that is where your house insurance comes in. 😉

Motor that pushes in from the back and held in by a metal bracket…… that’ll be the newer type with the IWMS metering unit behind the left side body panel.
Short answer – if it’s blocked – change it. A clean out job is at best a temporary fix. Not worth the time in the long run. 😉

    Saying that….

If you saw some of my complaint letters written last year to Citroen’s management, you would be convinced I was an axe – wielding maniac……. 😯
Now, if you had mentioned the name of the dealership……. :hitfan: :angry4:

The Citroen was an example and to be fair, the maintenance contract includes all the repairs and spares.
I will be looking other places as my local Citroen dealer is a shambles. They are the most useless bunch imaginable.
But my 2 Citroen Dispatch vans over the last six years have been very reliable indeed. Credit where it’s due. 😉

Just for future reference, I ordered the part on screen and received the correct stat instead!! 😕 The photo, as is quite often the case with Connections, is completely wrong and very different from what the actual product looks like.
That was a stroke of luck before Christmas and one overjoyed customer!! 😀
Thanks for the input though, Gavin.

Yes – that or net curtain support wire. (the white plastic – coated spring wire that normally has hooks screwed in at each end?) The wire on its own is perfect for this job. Or anything similar.

Re: metalic scraping noise from a Zanussi Jetsystem Excell 1

Probably a bra wire!!! We engineers love ’em!!
To locate it, press a powerful torch against the drum holes and swing the drum back and forth – this will give a better view of the outer drum. If you can see it (and if it is noisy, it is touching the drum) you may be able with the help of a small screwdriver, to hook one of the ends back up through the drum and pull out with pliers. Loads of patience required!!
If you can’t locate it, it is probably jammed under the heater. The only surefire way is to remove the back half of the machine, remove the heater and extract the wire through the heater hole.
Don’t try to remove the drum paddles – they are secured by bent metal lugs inside the drum – not easy to refit. (and a huge probability that you will break them). Avoid.
If you have removed the heater and still can’t find the obstruction, it will probably be a screw or stone that has found its way down between the front of the drum pressed rim and the outer drum. To remove something from here is involved and will require professional assistance. 😉 Using the machine with this particular problem will result in gouging of the plastic outer tub and subsequent expensive failure.

Power off before any inspection starts. :plug:

    Hope that helps,

    Steve.

    Re: Zanussi ZDC5350W misbehaving

There is a small rubber cap at the back of the machine right at the bottom. Have a towel ready and a flexible 6″ wire to hand (flexible enough not to damage plastic – not a screwdriver!!).
Remove the clip and the cap and immediately the water is released, rod out the pipe with the wire. The wire should go in about 3 ” or so. Muck and fluff will be pushed out by the water.
Replace the cap then the clip and run the machine again. If the fault reoccurs, then a complete strip down and clean out is the only answer. The safety overfill float chamber has become blocked by excess fluff – caused by not cleaning the filter and condenser regularly; and the condensed water in the receiver tank should be emptied after every cycle – you should not wait for the lamp to be lit.
The strip and clean out is an involved job and is best left to an engineer. Zanussi condenser driers are, on the whole, good machines: and with care will last well.

It’ll be the thermostat at fault. 😥
E’mail the model number to Dave (Shop @) and he will be sure to send you the correct part. Based on overall condition, only you can judge the viability of the repair.
