ParticipantRe: B&Q £149.00 Hoover washer,how???
I have seen this machine today and it’s a Beko derivative. And £149.00. Badged “Expresswash” – definitely not Hoover / Candy.
As I have said before, these machines will sell to the credit card society on price alone. But who will fix it? It’s not worth fixing from day one. Not surprisingly, B&Q’s own site doesn’t recognize or show it at all which speaks volumes.
Yet again, Today’s bargain, Tomorrow’s landfill. 😉Steve.

ParticipantRe: Hoover spinner/TT belt
Qualtex VBT04 was the small ‘V’ belt for the spin can drive. Shows as obsolete, I’m afraid. 🙁
Try your local bearing supplier – they supply sectional ‘V’ belt kits that you can connect together to suit the application. (often used to make up belts for lathes, compressors and milling machines). Worth a go, Jim!! 😉Hope that helps,
Steve.

ParticipantRe: Merry Christmas to the WTA
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all in the new and effective T.A.
2008 will see the plans we have made develop and produce some lasting results. Getting our COP rubberstamped by the OFT: tackling Corgi for transparency and clarity on gas issues relating to cookers and driers: and with rising membership, persuade the WP’s that slavery has been abolished and a decent rate should be paid for our services. But I think we have moved collectively and coherently in the right direction. In just 4 months.
The next 12……..well; watch this space…… 😉Many thanks to all the UKW staff for the platform on which the WTA was launched.
Have a good one!!!

ParticipantRe: Hygena APL8214/2 dishwasher.
Thanks, Chris!! Connections (your favorite) can’t find the door seal – 31X6477 – no results. The bottom seal 31X5032 is the motor pump housing seal; but I don’t need a lower seal anyway.
Could you check that number for the door seal again, please – 31X6477 – I would really appreciate that.
How do you cross reference these Hygena numbers? Is it Masterpart’s software by chance? 😕Cheers, and Merry Christmas to you and your family,
Best Wishes,
Steve.

ParticipantRe: Whirlpool AWZ121
The brown ‘scorch’ marks are not related to burning. A Whirlpool AWZ121 is probably about 6 – 8 years old now so the likely cause will be worn support drum support wheels and therefore spaces where the drum presses against the front or back felt seals. Collars and other extremities will get ‘pinched’ in this gap and will mark. The loose fit will also increase drying through heat loss. It also taxes the heater. (Heaters for these are expensive!!)
Firstly, Power Off!! :plug:
Remove the lid and back panel. You can then remove the drum support (you don’t need to disconnect heater, but if you do, be sure to mark the wiring first). You can check the condition of the wheels and drum seals and replace as necessary.
Rebuild is a reversal of removal.
Remember, Power off at all times!!!HTH,
Steve.

ParticipantRe: Rosieres 4040RBIN
Gias (Candy / Hoover) are the parent company of Rosieres – you may have some luck there.
Note the word ‘may’ is used a tad loosely. 😉 Best of luck!!HTH,
Steve.

ParticipantRe: Bosch WFL2260 no spin.
Hi Chris: Hi Greg!!
My suspicions are confirmed. 👿
I don’t think she’ll go to a motor. There was talk about changing it for an ISE 5; but my delivery is stuck on a broken down van somewhere……. 😥 😥
Can things get any worse?? Oh, yes – it seems they can – I’ve got a Hotpoint WF860 with flashing fault code tomorrow morning. 😡 😡 I can’t wait…….Thanks,
Steve.

ParticipantRe: Just A Suggestion
That sounds like an excellent idea – information is power after all. Having someone with in – depth knowledge leaves us as a TA less open to being spoon fed bulls4it. Then we can honestly and correctly advise the membership on any query they may have.
Now all we need is a brave soul to sound out CORGI…….. 😉Steve.
