    Re: how much to charge?

Chris…. is this the Bauknecht s/s drum assembly using the same type of bearing and ‘V’ wiper seal assembly as you advised me about around 2 months ago? That machine was a AWM323. If so, I fitted bearings to the cast spider and the wiper seal with no problems at all. Putting it back on was ‘interesting’ to say the least……. :rolls:

Cheers for that, Ken – Goatboy’s posting jogged my memory. It’s nice to be a British tax-payer and find you are actually exempt from something for a change!!

I’m sure I’ve been told that if you just repair and leave the scrap parts with the customer, then WEEE does not apply to you.
    Am I right? 😕

    Thanks,

Re: Hoover HPM 130 drum won’t turn

Hoover / Candy fitted 2 types of motor to that range of machines – P40 and P55 variants. The serial number can help if the manufacturers parts identification software shows that they used both these motors at different times during production; it also helps in the case of a superceded part.
The brushes, as it happens, are identical on both motors – asking for all available information is just a precaution. 😉

Re: Hoover HPM 130 drum won’t turn

The motor brushes are probably worn out – easiest way to check is to remove the motor (2 bolts). The brushes are inside the black cartridges on the back of the motor. Remove the cartridges (marking their positions) and if the carbon brushes themselves are very short, then they require replacement.
Contact Spares@ with the full model and serial number to obtain the correct replacement parts.

Power off when investigating. Keep safe. :plug:

The FL1083 striker plate looks to be the same – still showing as available. IIRC it’s the one without the ‘door locked’ lamp lens. Connect part no. 5031688187283. Sadly, no stock. 😕
I have a clean s/hand one if all else fails. 😉 Send me a PM and I’ll mail it to you.

    Re: Siemens Oven isn’t heating

Sounds like a fan element that’s expired – relatively straightforward job. Remove the fan cover panel (screws around the edge of the back of the oven). The element can then be unscrewed from the back panel and the 2 wires unplugged. Then just reverse the operations to refit. 😉 Contact Shop@ for the correct part and prices. The number that you quoted is the model number – you will also need the number starting ‘FD’ when ordering.

Always, always, Power Off before investigating. :plug:

    Hope that helps!

    Re: creda ripping clothes

The ratchet type door gasket clamp is fitted to the newer Hotpoint WMA’s – therefore as the Creda is merely a clone of the WMA, the most likely candidate is a damaged or missing drum lifter as Jim said earlier.

Re: Best group/artist of the 70s

Have you seen the ‘One Night In Dublin’ DVD Greg? It was a tribute to Phil Lynott on what would have been his 60th birthday. Gary Moore, Scott Gorham, Eric Bell, Brian Robertson and Brian Downey all came together to play a concert of their greatest hits. It followed the unveiling of Phil Lynott’s memorial statue in Dublin.
    It’s a definate must-see for Lizzy fans!! 8)

    Re: Bosch SGS43E08GB (S9G1B )

Do you have the old module? It is possible that it is not the correct part for your machine as it produces a different display and has seemingly no control over the diverter valve.
Contact Spares @ and supply the ‘E’ and ‘FD’ numbers off the rating plate etched into the top of the door. Compare the part number with the number on your box. If they don’t match exactly, your problems could lie there. 😉
    Check that first!!!

    Hope that helps!

Re: Hotpoint DC11A dishwasher. Still available?

Wash impellor sheared off the motor, floods the kitchen due to most of the hoses being nibbled away, full of mouse poop, loads of green slime inside (hasn’t been used for 2 weeks) rusty in the base…….. need I go on? In short, a complete piece of c**p. When I first saw it I had to conceal my disdain. :rolls:
I’ve repaired these dishwashers before and they are horrid things. So when you’re next in Dorset, Chris……. I’ve got a little job for ya, mate!! 😀

Thin Lizzy, The Clash, Sex Pistols, Blondie, Bread, Eagles… all brilliant bands that the kids listen to today and assume they are the first to appreciate them. :rolls:
Does Hendrix count? He managed to stagger into the seventies. Fantastic guitarist! Nobody else really quite matched him, but most imitated him; that’s probably the best accolade anyone could hope for.
