Re: Stupid or PC job titles

A while back there was an advert in the press from a local authority health trust looking for a ‘Teenage Pregnancy Co-ordinator’. IIRC the pay was around £40K. How you could actually co-ordinate any pregnancy is beyond me.
I’m probably missing the point because I’m only a ‘Domestic White Goods Appliance Electro-Mechanical Diagnostics and Rectification Specialist Then Finish The Coffee And Drive To The Next Job Engineering Technologist’.
    Twice removed of course. 😆

1703273 is thankfully what I’ve got on order!!! The photo on Connections shows a couple of loops of what resembles a felt-like material and nowt else. I hate guesswork when ordering parts.
Thanks guys for the info!! 😀

This is the stat (double pole) on the left side of the cabinet directly behind the heater. I thought it was strange to have 2 fail so quickly. 😕 New one arriving today – fingers crossed it will sort it out!!!

Re: Baumatic BDW5 dishwasher flashing lights!!

Back today with the same fault – stat open circuit. Not bad, new stat lasted all of 9 days!!! 😈 .
Is this a problem with these stats? Are they known to be rubbish or am I just really unlucky? Or is there anything that may affect the stat (the heater checks out perfectly in continuity and insulation tests).
I’ve ordered another new one so let’s hope that’ll solve it!!!

    Any comments please!

A.C.R.I.B want it applied very soon – probably sometime during 2007. But you know what this government is like – they’ll let you know the night before it’s made law!! :rolls:

Re: Refrigeration repairs your advice please!!!!!

No it’s not mandatory yet….BUT… think January 2005 and the Part P fiasco – the queues of electricians trying to qualify to continue working – my father-in-law couldn’t get on a course as they were all over-subscribed and went 3 weeks with his mate having to check his work and sign it off! :rolls:
I got my certification early to avoid any such problem and at just over £200 and 2 days to do it, I considered it well worthwhile. Training is tax deductable as well. You also get to register with A.C.R.I.B as a recognised refrigerant handler. All strings to your bow. 😀

    Hope that answers your questions,

    Steve.

Re: Hoover Softwave Washer Dryer 1100 stopped midcycle

Could be either a faulty door interlock microswitch or even a worn door frame. A blocked pressure system will give this ‘stopping’ fault too. Clearing the pressure system involves removing the front panel of the machine to gain access to the pressure system.
This problem is best sorted by an engineer – it probably will be a reasonably inexpensive repair – your machine is superior in build quality compared to its new counterpart – and be assured – the eejit is the person who buys barrow-loads of new parts and still doesn’t fix the problem. 😉

See my posting for C&G 2078 training in the ‘Training’ forum. I had not done system work for many years and the old memory was rusty on the details – but I was given a practical refresher as part of my course (I even took in a scrap fridge with me and reclaimed, recharged and tested it with Jules giving me pointers along the way). Excellent trainer – easy to talk to and he’s flexible to your requirements. Worth a phone call!

    Hope that helps,

    Steve.

    Re: Rangemaster 110 Fan Sticky

Even though the fan may turn easily by hand, the motor coil or bearings may be worn or faulty. Lubrication with WD40 will burn off in minutes; grease and oil are both quickly displaced and largely ineffective. A new fan motor is the only real long term answer.
Try the ‘Shop @’ link for a replacement part.
