JohnIf you saw what was going in this machine, you would not get within 50 miles of it with your duvet, I can assure you….. :rotl:
One of the price comparison sites had a customer review that said that Whirlpool wanted £620 to do a bearing job on one of these machines; that can’t be right….can it?Steve.

ParticipantRe: Fisher & Paykel Smartdrive 051 dead.
No, I noticed they were 12V; so I used a standard valve, removed the 240V solenoids and pushed the old 12V ones on the new valve bodies. The initial problem was the machine filling when off, not faulty solenoids. I checked they worked by connecting them to my cordless drill battery – they worked a treat. 😀 At this point I hadn’t even fitted them to the machine.
My happiness was short lived when I fitted them and the machine was dead. The power on / off switch didn’t even light up; it was as if the fuse in the plug was duff. There’s power to the board, the PCB fuse is OK, so I think it must be the PCB.
I have a bad feeling about the cost of this; but I can’t help wondering if the other company possibly did fit 240V valves and neglected to mention it…….. They had it for a couple of days and then said they couldn’t repair it. It’s a simple job if you take care…….hmmmmm…… 😕Steve.

ParticipantRe: Memership ID number…
Lawrence – had to change Tim Downing’s number as it was out of sequence. UKW091 is the logical follow on to UKW090. UKW80 (his original number) does not fit with the list. I looked and looked but couldn’t see a logical reason for UKW80 until the list grows to UKW80?…..ie:- 800 + members. 😉 That’d be nice!!
He posted for his number the other day, so I gave him UKW091. Can you amend your copy please.Cheers,
Steve.

Thanks, John.
If the shaft is scored, is it only available as a drum assembly complete? I got a price of £188.90 + vat for that today. 😯Put the prices together and it’s horrific. Is it worth me doing it?

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint BWM12 leaking.
Changed the dispenser and it didn’t leak on test; come to think of it, didn’t hear anything more……so I have to assume it cured it.

ParticipantRe: PAT Testing
Have a look at these handheld Seaward testers – they do PAT and RCD trip times as well as cord test functions.
I have a Seaward PAT tester and it is reliable and easy to use. I would definately recommend them. 😉http://www.seaward.co.uk/products/Prime … Tester.asp

Only one solution to this to stop this BULLs**t happening over & over again… Set up our own network! Flip it!Might take years yeah! But we all young pups! Lets do it?! I’m some young dude that’s losing faith in this trade! Lots like me out there… Need to keep them! And me! 8)
When you see Phil, ask him what he was proposing on this front….. 😉 I initially got shot down in flames for reporting that Qualtex were suggesting this a while back, but exploring the possibility of a repairer – led WP system with some backing in the light of what’s happening may at least be worth discussing.
Cue the tidal wave of dissent……. 😕Steve.

ParticipantRe: Qualtex discount scheme for WTA.
Yes, you may as well go ahead as there’s nothing more I think I can add to what’s already been said. It must be because I don’t do any contract work that I don’t get the cryptic hints about where this is going, so maybe it’s better if you guys deal with it as TBH the devil is always in the detail.
For the record – nothing has been formally agreed, signed or undertaken any form of contract with Qualtex. Phil laid out what Qualtex was offering, quite a bit of it will be very beneficial to us, he is aware that the WTA is independent so therefore will not be subject to outside influences from vested interests.

I cannot comment on this as I haven’t done any contract work ever. I have to say that £31 a job is a bloody insult though……. 👿
