ParticipantRe: AEG Lavamat 50435W PNC 91400218600
Bearings are 6205ZZ and 6206ZZ (50061408006 and 50653825005) – not the standard 6206 and 6207 supplied in the large bearing Zanussi kit. Seal is 1249685007. Spider outgoing part number was 1320045139 which now cross – references with the drum assembly you have found. (1320045162). The spider was not a standard ‘large bearing’ Zanussi spider.
Looks like it’s only available as one assembly now…..good old wasteful Electrolux…… 👿Steve.

ParticipantRe: Qualtex discount scheme for WTA.
Cryptic Kenneth……….. 😕 (A bit of early morning alliteration there.)
Are you suggesting that I don’t pursue this yet? You’ll have to spew sooner (preferably today) as I’m not sure I quite understand the ‘dangerous’ bit. I figured there was no harm in asking or at least sowing the seeds with Qualtex – they can always say No and we’d be no worse off. I thought it could only be good for the WTA if we had the scheme approved or at least an agreement to roll it out when the membership grows.
The only danger is that I could look stupid if I get my facts wrong, so I really need to know what you mean Ken before I write this e’mail………. 🙁Steve.

ParticipantRe: Qualtex discount scheme for WTA.
I had a detailed conversation with John the manager at Qualtex South West earlier this week and he suggested that the WTA discount would probably have to be for account holders only. On the face of it, that sounds OK, until you consider he has quite a few traders that buy over the counter day by day with no set account and others on stop that are allowed limited cash only sales. If WTA members aren’t paying their bills, Qualtex could be reluctant to give discount. Obviously, there’s a bit of devil’s advocate in that statement, but it was something that he thought may come up in the conversation with Phil (bossman) next week. 😕
I’m e’mailing Mark at S’East at his request this weekend with the outlines of the discount scheme based on popular items and maybe some special offers only open to WTA members being implemented in the future when the membership grows.
Phil is back from holiday on Tuesday, so I should have three people’s attention on this and hopefully we’ll get a result. John is due a routine visit from Phil next week anyway and he has promised me that he will back WTA discount on my behalf.Anything to add to that?

ParticipantRe: Snobby Geits!!!
We have Bear Grylls mother as a regular customer – she has an estate about 3 miles from us. Very slow, deliberate, plum – in – mouth talking; lots of “Ah, Mr Steve……how’s Mrs Steve?” then asking me if I can repair stuff in her Kensington flat that Sir Michael Grylls her husband owned when he was alive and sat in the House Of Lords. She is the archetypal English toff, but she’s a lovely lady living in a different world. Not snobby or awkward at all.
I have to say Bear Grylls makes a good cup of tea; it’s weird to have someone that you see on the telly doing everyday things like making tea for you. “Another cup Steve?” ” Thanks, 2 sugars…. and hold the newts……!” 😀Steve.

ParticipantRe: September meeting @ coventry hilton hotel
Roly’s gone all Radio Ga Ga if you ask me…. there’s a song in there somewhere…:rolls:
I’ll be attending with Jo (so you can meet her and to share the driving; I’m rubbish at motorway driving!) but not staying over as we can’t get coverage for the kids for Saturday morning. The parents in law are leaving for the airport at 4am so we have to be back home late Friday.
Looking forward to it!!Steve.

ParticipantRe: zanussi fl1085
The timer for the FL1085 is the AKO 513214. EMW do supply it. Just type 513214 into the EMW site ‘Product / Model Search’ bar and it’s there. £44.90 + VAT. 😎
Hope that helps,
Steve.
P.S. I’ve also got a secondhand unit if you want it…………. 😉

If I know the numbers then I can use it as a lever for Qualtex discount. 😉
Thanks for that Ken.Steve.

ParticipantRe: 10 – Drumming
If those are the flexible foam type (looks like they are) they would offer no ‘stiffening’ to the flexing panel. Inside a speaker enclosure you are controlling airborne reverb and flutter so the foam will do this fairly well in a rigid box. The machine cabinet is flexing the panel or the panel has a small distortion in it that will cause it to resonate and generate noise. The automotive panel damping pads offer density and a level of torsional strength as well as adding mass to the panel. The panel is less able to twist or drum due to the weight and stiffness that is applied to it so the flexing is therefore controlled. Acoustic foam is not suitable for this application – sorry!!

ParticipantRe: Qualtex discount scheme for WTA.
I’ve put the aforementioned suggestions to South West several times; they are still looking into it but nothing concrete has transpired as yet. I’ve had no return on the promise of contact from head office after returning the requested call.
I’m glad you raised this Adrian, I’ll try again this week. South East keep emailing me special offers after the conversation I had with them, but no response on the WTA discount front. I’ll try them as well – again….Steve.

ParticipantRe: New Van
Mercedes Vito…..great van, double side load doors and even the short wheelbase version will take a 8′ X 4′ panel of wood / plasterboard with ease. One downside – eats the edges off the front tyres!! 21,000 miles and I’ve just had the third pair fitted. Tracked up each time; makes no difference, still the outer edge wears off. 👿
On the subject of the Fiat Scudo; they are a very good van for this trade. I had 2 Citroen Dispatch versions and they were both very reliable. Unfortunately, the motor trade tend to prefer the Peugeot Expert version then the Citroen Dispatch and the Fiat Scudo is sadly the fastest to depreciate. Ridiculous as they are the same van. Many contract hire companies will not supply a Scudo due to the high depreciation after the 3 year lease is up. Strange but true; but something to consider. 😉

ParticipantRe: Candy Ribbon Cable
The cables are available separately – but by the time I had what I needed, they had sent me several different sizes and lengths. Gias are unbelievably useless – if they don’t know what is fitted to their own machines, we have no chance. 😥 Best of luck!!
Steve.
