    Don’t you know that “Washing machines live longer with Calgon?” Where have you been, man? Dose of Calgon in every wash and according to the “expert” engineer on the telly, it’ll last forever. And he’s working on a Beko with a length of plastic sink waste in it and he hasn’t noticed. :rolls:

    C’mon, everyone knows that – and I have to say, I believe him. 😉
    Hotpoint WF860 with a blown module? Calgon tablet in the wash – good as new. Bearing failure on a Servis? Calgon does the trick. Easy. No more machines failing under 20 years old – problem solved.

    But then I’m typing this with my nose as I’m wrapped up in a strait jacket and the medication is due…… :rotfl:

    Hi, Mick!!

    I’ve got a complete spin motor here. Just ran it up and it’s in good order; PM me your address and I’ll post it to you. If you can cover the postage costs, you can have it!

    8, 11 12 and 16 way fitted to that machine. You will need to count the cables (Gias wouldn’t supply me until I counted the cables; and still got it wrong twice. 😈 )

    If you need a 16 way or an 8 way, I have both in stock new and unused for a CMD146. You can’t go by the model number or the ‘3100’ number – count the cables.
    PM your address if you want them.

    PCB’s pop regularly on these – I’ve had 3 in the last month! Water leaking in from the lid drips on the selector and shorts it out – board pops. The machine will flash the door lock lamp but will not lock it. Another thing to look for is water dripping on the pump. This will damage the PCB as well. It could be a door switch; Connect part number 5031681043531 is a new one @ £5.50 + VAT. Cheap enough; but I agree with LJD; I would be inclined to investigate first. EMW repair the PCB’s BTW. 😉

    Re: Bosch dishwasher SMS4462GB/03

    Hi, Rob!!

    The fill metering system on these is pretty straightforward. Left hand side panel off to see.
    The machine will fill into the matrix until it is full enough to syphon over. The syphoning water is directed down over a pivoted swinging ‘bucket’ that tips upwards and switches the valve off by means of a microswitch. This switch also puts power to the timer motor which will advance the timer while the matrix is syphoning down. When the matrix is empty, the ‘bucket’ will swing back to its original position. This switches the valve on to fill and the timer motor off. This will happen 3 times before the timer motor has moved the timer on enough for the machine to switch the wash motor in and the valve off. The machine is then full and should work normally.

    Common faults:-

    1) Black rubber hose at the bottom of the matrix is partially blocked which restricts the water flowing into the sump. The pressure will overfill into a separate chamber and hydraulically lock the valve off. Easy to spot as the valve will buzz but won’t fill. Remove the hose, clean and refit. Part number 118994 is a new one as they sometimes rot. Take the pressure (clear plastic) hose off the valve to reset the safety shut off. Tap the valve to release it and refit the little hose.

    2) The door wires are broken at the hinge. Look carefully at the loom going through the door hinge. A split wire here can make and break connection and give spurious faults.

    3) Timer is faulty. Least likely of the three. 088369 is the part number and EMW repair them as they are also fitted to the Hotpoint variant of this range of machines.

    My money’s on faulty door wiring. 😉

    Re: Bosch WTA4108GB/01 drier no heat.

    The machine is clean and free of major dust. I can’t see any blockages. Even with the vent kit disconnected and the machine set to timed drying, the heater came on, ran for a few minutes, then goes cold and doesn’t come on for quite a time afterwards. 😕
    I’ve ordered the filter check stat – that stays off for a long time when tested out of the machine. Gently tap it on the work surface and it resets. Hopefully the new one coming will sort the problem.

    Anything I’ve missed?

    Thanks for the responses,

    Steve.

    Re: Belling Farmhouse regulator 930

    31ER terminals:-

    Live in = P1.
    Load = 2.
    Pilot = S. Switched at S, through the lamp and back to Neutral P2.
    Neutral = P2

    41ER terminals:-

    Live in = P1.
    Load = 2.
    Pilot = P2.
    Neutral = 4A. This double tag will have the main Neutral wire on it AND the return from the pilot lamp.
    Link wire fitted between P1 and 4 to supply power to pilot lamp switch. P2 to 4) Power is switched from P2 through the lamp and back to Neutral 4A.
    This has to work or the regulator could be faulty. Test meter on 4 and P2 – turn the regulator on and you should get continuity.

    Re: TLE1116W zanussi toploader

    It’s using the EWM2000 PCB – door lock failures usually cause the PCB’s to pop. The interlocks normally chatter but the machine is otherwise dead.
    Can you get it in to diagnostics? E40 family of fault codes are door interlock failure or PCB triac short circuit.
    If you fit a new PCB it will have to be configured with a 16 digit code. Also fit a new interlock as it is likely the old one caused the problem in the first place. 🙁

    Re: Zanussi/AEG tumble dryer belt tension pulley clips

    I’ve seen quite a few without circlips – same as you, thought I must have mislaid it on stripdown. But the belt does centre the pulley; you may have to move the belt across to make sure the pulley doesn’t fall off. The circlip is not listed on TDS for all the machines I looked at; it doesn’t appear to be a spare part on its own. 😕
    IIRC, the old Hoover Juniors used to use a similar sized circlip for the back axle. Readily available. 😉
