    Re: AGM

Unfortunately, he has full access ATM to the WTA forum: although he will be preaching to the already converted….. πŸ˜‰ I think the AGM thread will have to continue in the General forums to try to encourage new members to come to the meeting. Hopefully his comments will be taken with a pinch of salt. :rolls:
I agree Ken, he is ignoring that airing his thoughts on funding can be so easily done with PM’s – no need to go public. He’s just ‘on a mission’.

    Re: AGM

Martin’s inference is typical of his general attitude on this site. I must admit to being insulted by his facetious meanderings on many occasions. Like most of us on this site, he is a one – man – band so should appreciate that others have genuine worries and concerns; but are not able to be flippant about the future as they are not close to retiring. In fact, the WTA was set up for people looking toward a brighter future; those who want to further this trade and get it the recognition it rightly deserves.
If Martin doesn’t want to try, then that’s fine. But don’t tell others that they are wrong to try.
The Subs forum, as it was, catered for people interested in UKW and the trade as a whole. I fail to see the distinction between the Subs forum and the WTA forum. I would be happy to refund Martin’s subs out of my own pocket – his input has become so negative and condescending it helps no-one.

Sorry, but I had to say it. He reminds me of the Harry Enfield ‘dad’ character – “You don’t want to do it like that”…….:nono:

For the record, no complaints or anti – charity sentiments here……. πŸ˜‰ Anything that increases membership is worth doing. Have we got a draft application form for WTA that could be “knocking around” at the meeting?

Re: Cancellation of Contracts Made in a Consumer’s Home

The scenario that should be put to them would be one where a letting agent instructs you to do a job on behalf of the landlord. I have a general arrangement with all my agents that Β£75 or under is a “go ahead” unless instructed for a quote only. Over Β£75 is flagged for approval. That saves them the effort of chasing the landlord and wasting time. All are very happy with this arrangement and it works well. But if I am instructed by a letting agent to see a machine on their behalf and they give me the go ahead, the landlord could presumably within seven days say,”I didn’t want a repair” and I would have to refund any charges and remove the fitted parts. That could easily happen. But, because I am just a third party and this is a verbal contract, who carries the responsibility for the approval of the job as the landlord isn’t present to sign the agreement? πŸ˜• ATM, it would have to be signed on his behalf by the agent. Would that then be binding on the agent OR the landlord? Or do I just have to take the loss through poor communication or awkward / unavailable landlords? The landlords after all, own the machine and are the ones footing the bill; in essence, it’s their money you’re spending without direct permission. The impression I get from this is, whatever the situation, the onus was on the trader to get approval and if that was not achieved, the job should stop until it is. Continuing would mean that the customer was ‘not protected’ and in certain circumstances, may constitute a breach of the law. Huh? That’ll go down well with the tenants when the landlord is living in Dubai……
If the letting agent signs for the job to go ahead then is he then taking responsibility for money owed if the landlord refuses to pay? πŸ˜•

    Steve.

P.S. If anyone knows the definitive way the above scenario could be solved, please post a reply as it would be interesting to see if the TS are singing from the same hymn sheet across the country………… πŸ˜‰

Part number 5045170975333 at Connect. Called a “Card reset / start” @ Β£2.75 + VAT. Looks like a small PCB with a press switch on it.

    Hope that helps,

    Thanks, Chris!
It’s just finished it’s third cycle in the workshop – no leaks yet……..
But…I am inclined to “kitchen sink” and strip it right down and do it again. I’m just not convinced yet.
Glad someone else has had this fault!! πŸ˜‰

Re: w’pool awo3961 leak by dispenser

Have you cleaned the valve grit traps? Also the venturis inside the dispenser lid – take the fill hoses off the dispenser and push a small Allen key into the nozzle and turn it around. That should break up any scale that has formed around the inside of the nozzle. Replace hoses and test. Slow water fill (especially on hot) can cause the water to trace across the dispenser lid and leak.
If not, looks like the dispenser is at fault…….

PCB is Β£111 + vat from Connect – seems a little steep? 😯
    Is that about right???

    Re: Diplomat ADP8252 dishwasher.

    Tried the following today:-

Swapped dispenser solenoid – fault still present.
    Motor capacitor – all OK.
Blown mains suppressor – replaced, fault still present.
Split door loom and checked – no broken wiring.

Open the door and switch the machine on. Door lock in the open position. “PO” shows on the display, 3 seconds later, 2 beeps and nothing else. The clock button when pressed shows 22 minutes, otherwise nothing. Shut the door and the machine is dead.

I am pretty convinced the PCB has been corrupted by the blown suppressor; any further thoughts before I order a new one?

Thanks for the help so far,

    Steve.

P.S. What is the “wax jack”? πŸ˜•

    Re: Electrolux EWD1409i washer drier.

Right, got this 18 month old machine working at last. It needed:-

    Door interlock
    Main PCB
    Display interface
    Analogic pressure switch.

All because of a simple shorting door interlock…………..:rolls:

Ridiculous – and ridiculously expensive to repair. Electrolux should be asking themselves some serious questions producing stuff like this. Only with the help of Alex and Co was I able to sort this out. Thanks guys!!

Re: Tricity Bendix oven door glass and handles

Coloured appliance parts (as opposed to white) are usually sold at a premium because there is less demand and the manufacturer would normally expect you to want to match the parts on your appliance. PNC and serial number to get the specific item. The white door glass (although cheaper) may be unsuitable for your door frame. All manufacturers change specification at will and parts change during production runs; sometimes for quality concerns or sometimes just for styling. They may look and measure the same, but the mounting brackets and screw holes may not line up. The ‘cheaper’ part you ordered is now useless.
The handle is supplied complete – no separate parts are available. They have 2 different part numbers that do not cross – reference, so they are different.
The handles are different in design – you cannot go by the dimension alone. 25 years in this industry has taught me that guessing isn’t an option. PNC and serial number to get the correct one.

The bottom line is – order the correct parts and they will fit. They may be expensive, but they will fit properly and above all, safely.

    Welcome to our world……… :rolls:
