check all the heaters in the appliance for earth leakage with an insulation tester, getting quite common on these zanussi appliances now.

look at the large smoothing capacitor on the pcb i bet its all but just about to explode, had this a few times, a what a good man who uses his pat tester corrrectly. the capacitor is more than likely short curcuit.

Hi Ally,
the defrost heater also serves as the drain heater on the model (sorry for the confusion 😳 ) but getting back to the louver heater as you did say in your pm that you traced the wireing to that, the louver heater id built on to the back of the freezer evaporator cover, have a look at pase 56-57 on the service manual.

looking at the diagram it looks as if the defrost drain heater is what is causing this problem (not the defrost hester) the louver heater is in the freezer evaporator section.

look at the door wireing next to the hinge they somtimes chaff and short circuit.

Hi Mike,
the module will fit but the eprom file will need to be reprogrammed with a smartcard or if the eprom is the old removable type it will swap over,last resort if its surface mounted you could do micro surgery on it and unsolder it and tranfer it to the new pcb.
