I agree, unfortunately i suspect it’s one of those jobs where you need to get the panels off, start a program, sit back with a cup of tea and observe 😕

Classic brush failure! A new set should see a few more years out of it 😉

The water ‘returning’ to the sump is quite normal…the drain pump requires a head of water to pump so it will drain down to this level, the remaining being held in the drain pipe until the pump stops when it runs back in so nothing to worry about there.
….and yes, 4 flashes is no drain in time allowed so it would be worth checking the level switch again (behind the black grid). For a full inspection it might be better to remove it altogether, it’s a twist fit from underneath.
Power off at all times please :zap:

Next port of call is likely to be the NTC…this is the temperature probe and is well known for giving all sorts of problems. A heater fault is unlikely if it’s producing any heat at all.
Do a search on ‘NTC AND whirlpool’ in the Dishwasher H&S forum…there’s oodles to read 😉

ParticipantRe: Smeg DWI 710E1….door lock replaced, but….
Two things…..
Firstly check that the microswitch is fully clipped home otherwise the actuating lever in the lock will miss it so the pcb thinks the door is shut and will not program.
Secondly, examine the facia carefully where the top ‘fingers’ of the lock mechanism slot in….anything broken or cracked then you’ll need a facia. (i have made temporary fixes on these by drilling the facia to put a cable tie through to secure the lock) 😉

The giveaway to this fault is the half dissolved tablet which indicates it’s running with insufficient water.
Take out the filters in the sump and have a look at the 3 o’clock position…you’ll see a grid which is prolly gunked up. Give a good clean with hot water and something like a toothbrush (don’t poke anything sharp through, there is a rubber diaphragm behind) then let us know how you get on?

ParticipantRe: AEG Oven with clock fault
Likely to be one of two things…either you have a loose connection in the supply to the cooker or clock, or the clock itself is faulty.
Probably the only way to find the fault is to use a multimeter and do a ‘wiggle’ test.
Power off at all times please :zap:

IIRC some of these replacement regulators require an additional linkwire…some of them are supplied with the wire and mod sheet and others aren’t 😕

Mt first port of call was the BBC website where i put the question just to get an automated FAQ that the beeb doesn’t give details of theme tunes 😕
Thanks helo_75 for the link…..spot on!
….and Merv, you answer your phone so damn quick i got less of the music than i did on the BBC!

Yes it is Jim….it’s the music played at the very start with the rolling titles. I think it’s been ‘adapted’ slightly from the original, and i think it’s a cover of a big name song anyway….but they only play some of the intro grrrrrr!

A normal multimeter might not show an earth fault due to it’s low voltage output. Don’t forget the appliance has 240v running through so insulation testing should be done with….wait for it lol….an insulation tester!
This is simply a meter that puts out a minimum of 500v…often 1000v to ‘force’ the fault to show.
It’s also possible that the earth leak could be in the supply wiring to the element rather than the element itself 😉HTH?

Location is Amersham, Bucks.
You have pm 😉

Just a thought…if it was gunked up in the matrix/transfer hose then maybe the the turbidity sensor is gunked too?
…in which case runing two or three cycles with descaler might sort it :con:clivejameson
ParticipantRe: BF1620 DISWASHER
The only way to find out is with a miltimeter to chase the wiring back from the heater onto the relevant track on the pcb…that will check everything except the pcb itself so if you have a good circuit to and from the heater then that just leaves the pcb itself.
Knowing these machines, if i was a gambling man my money would be on the pcb i’m afraid 😕
