    Re: Bosch Slimline not washing/heating

Have you established that the correct dose of water is in the machine as Martin implies?

The common fault is accidentally putting detergent powder instead of salt into the salt container which clogs the resin beads in the softener preventing enough water getting through.

With the left hand panel off observe the machine taking in water by watching the level rise in the plastic chamber, then when the wash pump kicks in you should see this level drop all the way back down to the bottom as the water runs through the softener and into the tub.

If there is more than say a quarter of the water remaining in the chamber then there’s your problem.

    Re: BF1620 DISWASHER

I take that to be the infamous neon screwdriver or something similar? These are highly dangerous and in any case will only show the presence of voltage…nothing to do with current.
We can never condone live testing by the public let alone rigging separate supplies to components!
Having said that, if you found the element heated when it was given a supply then it can only be a heater supply fault…being an Indesit in disguise it could be a whole number of things from the pcb down.
Power disconnected at ALL times when working on it please :zap:

    yep me too!

having said that i’ve just had the worst night ever with a temp of 102 and feel like i’ve been hit by a freight train oh joy. All the symptoms of flu…now i’ve been called a swine before now lol but i’m just keeping my fingers crossed at the moment. :rolls:

How have you established that there is current going to the heater?

Well some of the dishwashers give a ‘one minute remaining’ indication with heater failure so that may be worth a look…other than that it may be an earth fault from the leak?

Re: Bosch SGS 69L02GB/17 – Not draining

Firstly, the gunk in the top left corner of the fill/drain matrix is nothing to worry about…it’s essentially an anti-syphon device.
Secondly, with the drain pump impellor cover removed, start the machine which will cause the drain pump to run then quickly open the door to see if the impellor splashes the remaining water about…if it does then the pump is almost certainly fine.
Thirdly, with the cover replaced if it still doesn’t drain then there is a mechanical blockage somewhere.
You have checked for blockages where the drain hose attaches to your sink waste? Other than that it’s a case of separating the drain line to find it.

chesham wrote: Is the valve and filter mesh something I can get at and replace with a spare or do I need an engineer?

No need for an engineer….simply turn off the taps to the machine and unscrew the hoses. The filter mesh is situated in the back of the valve and you will soon see if it’s clogged when you take the hose off. If it is then carefully withdraw from the valve (long nose pliers might help here) and give it a good wash off using something like an old toothbrush.
Push it back in, reconnect hoses and turn taps on.

Most likely a heater box which includes the stat anyway…i don’t recall having had a module fault on these later ones at all. Probably worth getting one in anyway even if you don’t fit it as you will use it on another job sometime 😉
There are basically two types, one with a diverter valve and one without.

Many of us are in the same boat Jonah and have no experience of this sort of process so we do ‘feel’ for you too but i for one will resist their attempts all the way into court if necessary…which i don’t believe will happen…if for no other sake than what they are doing is just so wrong!

Just remember you are not alone and thank heavens for UKW?

The flow-meter is situated near the base on the LHS looking from front. It’s an integral part of the metering tank consisting of a small vane ‘propellor’ with a magnet attached to it. Clipped to the outside is a reed switch which ‘pulses’ open and closed as the magnet on the propellor rotates past it.

It’s a common fault for the connections to corrode or work lose 😉

You’re correct that the condensor is at the bottom…inside there is a pump that pushes the water up into the container. Consider what happens if you continue to use the machine and don’t empty the drawer?…the excess condensate flows out again and back to the bottom where a float lifts and hits a switch 😉

Does that suggest its not worth saving,

Would be worth a look, it will need new hinges and the engineers’ time but if the rest is in good nick it’s worth sorting.
