Re: Hotpoint RLA30 running all the time after stat change

Look I appreciate that you just want an answer to the problem but you are giving conflicting information. Earlier on you stated that it would only go down to +4.5 degrees now you are saying it goes below freezing. So to explain, the thermostat sensing element is looking for a temperature around -25C which if the gas charge is correct. Once reached the unit goes into defrost and all ice drops off. If however the sensed temperature is say only -15C the unit will run constantly and freeze up things and produce ice on the back internal wall. So first off using the replacement thermostat does the appliance switch off and at what temperature if it does??

This constant beeping at the end indicates a fault during the wash cycle if you check out the wash, rinse & spin leds note what each is doing and refer to the error codes this will direct you to the fault.

The swishing is a good indication that you are short of refrigerant. You need a fridge engineer not a diy job.

I note that you changed the stat on this some while ago in an earlier post. What you need to establish is if the appliance is getting down to the correct temperature first. If the temperature in the larder fridge gets to below freezing then you likely have a stat fault, however if the lowest it reaches is +4.5C you may have a shortage of refrigerant or problematic compressor. The stat uses a bellows arrangement to activate the switching not a microswitch.

Question first – why did you change the stat in the first place??

Check that you have no blockage between the tub assy sump hose and pump. If that is clear then I would suggest you either have a wiring loom fault or electronic module is damaged.

Most likely cause is either it is short of refrigerant, the compressor (motor) is faulty or you have a defrost cycle problem – time for an engineer 😥

    Re: Hygena/diplomat cooker hood – motor replacement…

Rather depends on whether the motor mounting bolts are accessable from inside or if they are in the chimney. If the latter then you have the chimney to take off (if you’re lucky) or the whole unit down from the wall

I’m not familiar with this particular model but usually with dishwashers you have to take the side panels off to access the springs. You may also find that the door tensioning cable has snapped. Hope that helps

Re: D&G now in bed with Connect

I had to laugh about things today, after my previous post – we had a D&G call come in this afternoon during which the customer was complaining about crap service. It subsequently transpired that D&G had sent out the new Repaircare company to repair her fridge-freezer. Engineer had turned up, looked at the unit and stated “sorry madam we dont repair that brand” and walked off. Who knows whats around the corner 8) 😆 8)
