Well to be honest, it would seem that his old washer perhaps did not have a fault in the first place and it was down to the blanked of under sink plug. If it were me I would leave things as they are and be happy in the sale.

Pull it out unplug it and putting a towel behind it then tip it over to 45 degress advise if you have water coming out of the back – if so then you have a leak into the base which will need sorting

Equally be kind to the independent retailer, as you say it is his responsibility to look after you as a customer but he did not manufacture the product and probably only stocked it to cover the lower priced end of the market. He is usually only covered by the manufacturer warranty for 12 months too

The scrappies (gypos) have a novel way of sorting out speed cameras round here. To weigh in the wheel rims they cut off the tyres with a disc cutter and then hang the tyre around the camera and set fire to it – its very effective 8)
