ModeratorRe: w/pool american compressor
I did one last week after some advice from Bryan (R600a) Im assuming its the american side by side. If you are replacing it with like for like you can fit a standard 1/3 hp on R134a, if you want to retro it to R600a you can fit a 1/4 hp. 8)

Not just that but how many manufacturers do we now see supplying second hand part from appliances exchanged under warranty. Everybodies doing it etc 😀

ModeratorRe: Paying For Waste.. BSH Boss Says They Shouldn’t Have To
Your make the system too complex. As most of you know I run part of the WEEE disposal for ISE. If IPR was brought in then ISE would not be penalised for producing a quality product (or Miele for that matter). Secondly, as Ken said earlier when you shift into the waste arena you move from quantity of appliances to total tonnage of disposable appliances., this gives the cheap crap manufacturers an advantage as they can put two crap appliances through the system for the same cost of disposal as a quality machine. IPR solves this by charging for each appliance.
The government has a dilema, it has to dispose of the appliances but has an infrastructure that was designed for scrap metal recycling not appliance re-use/recycling. It therefore (at the start of WEEE) had to work within what it had. Hardly ideal but thats life. As things have moved along so the EA has improved the system and no doubt with our prodding we continue to do so. The figures are quite staggering when you look at end of life – many appliances that arrive are fully working most are fixable for afew pounds and much less than 50{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} are scrap. Of this scrap 23{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the appliance is not recycleable full stop. The remainder can be but this depends on the treatment facility. Its the nightmare that we all have to work with but hey ho. 8)Dales-Electronic

In the round it indicates that the water is not being pumped out during the cycle – check that the drain pump is OK, that the drain pipe is not blocked and finally that the pressure switch is operating correctly.

ModeratorRe: W3922 vs ISE10
Im sure this is mentioned earlier in the thread but perhaps for those just joining, whilst Broadsword has made some good points also take on board that the ISE10 is made by Asko a company that has also been around for a very long time, infact I have at least 5 of their machines in my area that are at least 20 years old – still going strong with parts still available. They also supply a similiar machine to Maytag part of the Whirlpool group the largest manufacturer (if I remember right) of appliances in the world. The likelyhood of them disappearing is less likely than Miele I would suggest. 8)

ModeratorRe: R12 REFRIGERTION
I agree with Bryan, these appliances are fully repairable with a drop in refrigerant of which there are many, including hydro-carbon ones. The only issue is that if system repairs are carried out you have to have the required certificates of competence ie C&G, or exemption certificates from DASA or the WTA 😀
