Re: AFM 6855 BUILT IN F/F

Well according to Merloni there is a reed switch available under part number 546037700 but MFI list it as a thermal fuse, located in the right hand side of the freezer compartment behind a cover. To confuse the issue there is a magnet available in the top of the door to activate the door light and (perhaps) the module to feel power to the fan. Let me have a look at the service instructions and if you have an email I’ll push it up the tube.

Either internal or external fan or compressor. You need to isolate where the noise is coming from and repost

Could be either short of gas and not cooling or the valves in the compressor are duff and its not pumping. Either way you need someone with a set of fridge gauges to check it out.

In many ways I agree with Andy and the concept is correct. However, having dealt with the EA over the last year putting together a producer compliance scheme with John Hopwood and having been subject to a surprise visit from them yesterday. I would just say this, make sure you know your stuff. Whilst the oversight of the WEEE directive is the province of district offices, it is the local officer that you have to please. So if you have a large WEEE area you are likely to have more than one local officer and with it more than one way of doing it. An example for us is that one area wants the skips covered and one area doesn’t. Go with the flow because getting it wrong means – up to six months in jail, a £50K fine or both 😯

Re: The weather is hot and I have no ice ?

You will not get fault codes because no component has failed. If you look at the back of the icemaker tray you can see where the water comes in. After switching off both the water supply and the electric try steaming it out and see if the water comes through on switch on and test.

Re: MFI freezer – alarm problem

One of two likely problems, either the unit is not getting down to the correct temperature which is causing the alarm to go off, or the thermostat is duff. By pressing the fast freeze all you are doing is connecting the electric up to the motor byepassing the thermostat. This could result in the motor burning out. There are two different thermostats fitted to this appliance, the correct one identification is dependent on the serial number.
