ParticipantRe: Dud Hygena/MFI fridge-freezer
There is no thermostat as such in this model as it is controlled electronically.
The £150 estimate you were given is correct as the control pcb is £118 inc VAT just for the part from MFI. The part however can be obtained from the manufacturer, Brandt for about £80 inc VAT.
That should give you some idea of possible costs, best to ask an engineer to attend though as we are only assuming that the pcb is at fault.

Steve, if you don’t know what a thermostat looks like or how to identify one then I would really suggest you call an engineer.

The thermostat you have checked sounds like it’s working OK, there is another one in the door though.
The pcb for this model (as long as it’s not the DWI67.1 version) is £165.67 inc VAT.
I would suggest an engineer though, it could be an expensive misdiagnosis 😉

ParticipantRe: SMEG DWI 710E1
That’s an E7 fault on a five led pcb.
A straightforward reset should do the trick on this one:
With the door open, turn the appliance on and, within three seconds, push 4 times on the program
selection button – The test program has been selected if the SOAK and STRONG pilot lamps are
flashing. This LED combination represents the test program for appliances that have a flow meter.
If, after applying the reset procedure, the above indication is not shown on the display, switch the
ppliance off and commence the reset procedure again, from the beginning. a
Once the two outer LED’s are illuminated, as above, push on the program selection button once to
select the version “without flow meter” and check that the pilot lamp of the SOAK indicator is off, as
indicated below.
To complete the procedure, do not close the door, simply switch the appliance off. After a short
elay, 10 to 15 seconds, switch the appliance back on and test on a SOAK program.Appologies for the translation 😉

I’d have to agree with Penguin’s prognosis on that one, compressor by the sound of it.
Generally a compressor change wil cost in the region of £200 all in, given it’s age, probably not worth repairing frankly.

Probably glued in then, I had a look at a new motor here and it doesn’t have the clip either.

Shanz, can you post the model and serial numbers please.
Necht don’t actually manufacture these appliances, they are rebadged.
