    Hi Dave,

I know it’s not been an easy decision for you. To be perfectly honest, I simply dont know how you’ve managed to juggle the two jobs thus far.
The only thing I know for sure is that with your undivided attention both UKW and yourself will go from strength to strength as a result.

    All the best, me luvver

    Hi Ken

I’m pretty sure that the last draft as appears in this thread is the final draft so if you want to copy and paste into a word document we are happy for you to do just that.

    Hi Tukky,

Sometimes when you get a dead short it can take out more than one component, or any that were in curcuit when it blew.
I think you have already given it a fair go, so you might be far better advised to try http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/modules.p … whitegoods and call in one of the guys on this site, to make sure your not chucking good money after bad. 😉

Re: aeg competence 5310 oven fan wont turn off

    Hi Kev,

A lot of the better ovens, especially double ovens have secondry fan units in them that have nothing to do with the cooking process.

They are there to keep the control gear cool and they can continue to run for a considerable period of time after you have finnished cooking.

Just double check to see that it is not the fan blades at the rear of the oven cavity that are turning.

If the fan at the back of the oven is not turning and you still hear a fan motor running it is probably the cooling fan.

Even the cooling fan should normally switch off after about an hour at most so if yours continues to run it may very well be that its associated stat is faulty.

might be an idea to contact http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/modules.p … whitegoods for one of our lads in your area as it can be difficult to identify the exact problem sometimes

    Hi Julie,

Do you think you could give us a little more information

    1) What setting do you have it set to

    2) Can you tell us if the door seal is making full contact all the way round

    3) due you use the fast or super freeze option for prolonged periods of time

The answers to this will enable us to help you better.

    Hi,

Try checking the defrost water channel that leads to the defrost drain hose on the inner rear wall of the fridge.
You will probaly find its blocked with crud, just probe it with a flexible pipe cleaner or straw to clear it out.

    Hi Pug,

You have covered most of the probable causes yourself but you are strongley advised to call in a corgi registered operative as to replace the timer is a major strip down job and it is all too easy to dislodge internal pipework whilst doing this job. try the repairs@ for a local corgi registered repair guy.

Re: Zanussi ZX99/5SI – freezer not defrosting

It could be a few things, but first of all just for clarification the ice forms on the evaporator not the condenser. It could be :-

    1) The defrost stat open circuit
    2) The defrost elements open circuit
    3) The control pcb not initiating the defrost cycle

Remember power off, before all else !!!

    Re: CFFN 311

I’m sorry to have to say that it sounds more like the compressor than the thermostat. It sounds like it is trying to start but then the compressor start relay is cuting out. The main cause of this is usually either a total blockage of the system or the compressor has burnt out. not a DIY job i’m afraid. 😥

Re: Freezers compressor is running continuously

    Hi Ian,

    First things first

NO FRIDGE OR FREEZER SHOULD BE TURNED OFF AND ON IN QUICK SUCESSION !!!

There should be at least a ten minute gap between turning it off and then switching it back on again. Its a bit like putting your car in fifth gear and then trying to drive off. It will stall and so will you fridge if you turn it off and then straight back on.

    As to you original fault,

    1) first of all how old is the appliance
    2) are the door seals meeting the cabinet all round when you close the doors i.e. no gaps

If they are, then it could be that there is a loss of refrigerant or that the compressor has become weak.

Re: Hotpoint FFA97P Fridge Freezer frost free

    Hi Tracy

You dont have to worry about any gases as all the main pipe work is usually hidden within the back wall of the appliance. you should be ok to use it.
