    Re: New Director

Does that mean they have actually bitten the bullett and given J.T. the boot. If this is true it should be headline new’s on the front page of the site.
anyway of getting it confirmed ?

    Hi Ray,

Welcome to the site, glad to see you have found it useful. Always remember that the time will come when you can return the compliment, by helping a fellow member with your experience on the trade in general and faults that you have conquered.

    Re: Charges!

I would’nt have a problem with those charges provided they were for a standard call out including up to 1 hours labour per single appliance. Or you might have some people taking the proverbial if it were sold as a maximum labour charge.
As you yourself point out sometimes the devil is in the detail so let’s not paint ourselves into a corner, but the general idea is sound.

    Re: I.S.D.AL. & L.G.

I hope connect know what they’re doing as they could get dragged down by this shower.
They are going to need call handlers with asbestos ears if L.G. stick to form, they bragg about a five year guarantee and then proceed to inform their customers of the long list of things that are not covered. As usual it’s the engineer who takes the brunt of their anger. Perhaps connect should have had a long chat with Richard first.
You know the old saying ” Be careful what you wish for, you might just get it ! “

Let’s hope it does’nt all end in tears as it has done so many times in the past where L.G. are involved.

    Re: D&G Hotpoint Work

I was also offered the work and the girl from D&G was quite open and said that it was a short term contract only for approx three months.
To make this work pay you would need to bulk buy stock to get a good price on spares but this is not practical for three months.
As has already been said, you would need volume work to spread the risk of taking it on. I estimate that you would need at least 20+ calls a week to make it viable. but for approx three months only it would be too risky.
Obviously Merloni /GDA can’t cope with the workload and as an ex- Merloni Agent who along with a good few others got shafted when they gave the work to GDA I can hardly say that my heart bleeds. Although
I do sympathise with D&G and thier frustrated customers.
Needless to say I felt I had to decline the work under the terms offered.

    Hi Charlie,

I’m not 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} sure but this code might mean that the load is out of ballance so the machine will not do the fast spin.

There are various causes for this :- overloaded, very small load, washing one heavy item, machine not level on the floor.

All of the afore mentioned can cause the control module to default to out of ballance mode.

Try adjusting the load and check the filter, also check that the machine is level. If all of these fail to cure the problem then I think you would be best advised to call in an engineer. HTH

    Re: DASA!

I think Jason has said it, in that we are all honour bound to give it one last big push to see if we can make it work.
Let’s face it we wanted to see the back of the CH because he had ceased to function, well the guy has gone ! so lets at least give it a go to see if it can be resurected and it can only be done by everyone lending a helping hand. We will all see just how serious people are by how many turn up at Sheffield to look for an unpaid job.

Perhaps we should warn others on the site as this netsky virus is a bugger as I could’nt use my computer until you advised me to continue downloading norton updated virus definitions even though the bloody thing was sendin out e-mail after e-mail and after several reboots.
Just like you I have had several e-mails this morning with the virus attached and norton has caught it every time now that it has been updated.

If you hav’nt had it yet then I strongly advise any one to update thier computers anti virus programes NOW !
