ModeratorRe: Electrolux late model pcb’s blowing
Just to update this one, the AEG version, (prod # 914016192) has now been repaired. It needed a new main board and I changed the door lock as it had a brown burn mark on the outer casing (Although the board itself had not blown on the door lock part of the board as indicated in the service manual). When powered up (fingers crossed and standing well back!) it showed a E91 error which could only be cured by fitting a front display pcb as well. No further blowing though so I am guessing these boards are just going bang due to it being constanly powered up as the customer has confessed she never turned it off. She will in future as her bill was in excess of £250!
Having to buy a pre configured board is a pain though as none of the distributers keep them in stock and they have to come straight from Distripart.eastlmark

If its a condenser it could well be blocked. Check also it is heating as it may shut down if no heat rise detected.

ModeratorRe: ISE 5 are the doors reversible?
I only know of one washing machine that ever had a reversable door and that was the Brandt WFH range a few years back. Whats more we used to charge customers £50 for the priviledge of doing it! (was not quite as easy as it looked) Was a good selling point though and the ones we did convert had the advantage of having the interlock re positioned so it was not prone to leaks from the dispenser (and associated module blow up) that many of the standard ones suffered.
sorry to digress!eastlmark

Jim, if you can make a living out of a turnover of less than £67K I will take my hat off to you.

ModeratorRe: Qualtex on line ordering?
Yep big fan of the old system here. A very trade oriented order and stock system, whilst the new one seems like something designed for the odd purchaser and designed to be used by the public rather than the trade. Little things like finding an invoice number for a faulty part to go back for credit was a doddle.
The first I knew about it changing was my rep asking for a new password, no official letters or anything from Qualtex themselves. They only needed to add a letter in the parcels for the last month or so, not too difficult I would have thought.
One plus point over connect and BSH is that, although the log in programme was an inconvenience to download and install, once logged in you stay logged in for it seems the duration you keep the window open.
A big downer is no invoice in the box anymore, not even a packing note to check off the items on and the stock and price checking seems to take an eternity.
Verdict? It will loose them customers.eastlmark

I must be losing it, big time. Either that or I’m scarily becoming my parents/other assorted relatives that are a lot older than me. And, before anyone starts, yes, I know I’m getting older. The fact I’ve starting listening to this stuff just underlines it.
But damn, it’s good stuff. John Cash, the American Recordings especially good.
K.
What worked for Johny Cash will never work with Neil Diamond, just a mums and dads crooner and nothing more.

The thing that gets me is the whole “dont get ripped off by a repairman” attitiude of the thing.eastlmark

fasetester wrote:thanks guys for your reply is the board at the front beside the timer. behind the plastic case. eastmark do you mean when you take off the metal cover the taco looked ok does the coil pull out is it held in with a screw and i was getting a meter reading fasetester. 🙂
It is held by a plastic screw into the armature, often comes loose and pushes the tacho coil and cover backwards, (can appear to be all ok to the untrained eye) causing one short burst of drum action before the module interveens and cuts power to the motor.
