ModeratorRe: A Great Loss
really sad about this, known him for years and one of the few “older” engineers at the meeting 2 weeks ago not talking about retiring…
He was every Scottish comedy cliché rolled into one, a really nice guy and always so helpful and gave his knowledge freely. UKW and the trade has lost a legend.eastlmark

oh don’t say that.
A true character of this trade.
I only just email him 2 mins ago…….eastlmark
ModeratorRe: Bosch better than Hotpoint, ‘Really’ ?????
had a WAQ 8 kilo drum bearings gone today at FD9209 (looks brand new otherwise, no abuse here) and very next call a WM12Q360gb12 bearing failure at FD9304. Early long lunch break for me then.

Gaurantee, both times it solved the problem, not closing fully
But looking at hinge I cannot see what’s causing problemIts a worn “heel” on the hinge bracket that the spring loaded roller runs over (Between the bottom of the door and the hook you lift to release the door). It gets rounded off instead of being almost a point. Almost all the Bosch/ Neff and Smeg ones never need sockets. They are being made of increasingly softer metal though..

well. moving that clock would be a major issue.

is the fan motor running when you shut the door? very common failure on those.

ModeratorRe: Bosch D/W intermittant faults.
Door switch poss Jim, for at least some of those issues. Very sensitive magnet to reed switch on these. Door slightly out will cut the program and may be the flashing display issue you mentioned. Usually hinge related if so rather than a door switch failure as such.

Although I hadn’t heard of Payleven until now. £60 from Screwfix for a reader, 2.75{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} per transaction. Paperless receipts via email and only works with iOS phones….. Hmm?
Martin, this device is a state of the art latest contactless item….. Hence my disappointment at it just not working as well as the old one. As mentioned, emphasis is on security now and if it detects any sort of security threat it will not connect.
Assume the others folks have mentioned are not merchant account terminals, correct? fees are just too high to warrant their use but I might get one as a back up. However, Spire are now very interested in sorting me out a better system so will see what happens.
Thanks for your responses, still would like to hear from anyone using a mobile device linked to a merchant account rather than pay pal or whatever.

ModeratorRe: Neff hob T1871NO/04
1 b 2 b are the hob hot light wires so assuming the customer is ok with it not working then yes, I would cut back the wires to where they come form assuming they are single wires if they are paired then will need to keep the loop so the other rings hob hot light still work.
I wish those who change these sort of wiring just for the sake of it would go out in the field and see what a hassle it causes. Often old leads don’t reach their new destination or the tags need to be right angle to fit- nightmare! same goes for energy regs.eastlmark
ModeratorRe: Neff hob T1871NO/04
I think you may have a ring there that has no hob hot light facility on it which would account for 2 of the wires. Will be ok to fit but the light wont work on that ring obviously. The electronic control hobs these days switch on the hob hot light after a few seconds of use regardless of the ring being actually being hot so I guess they have deleted the bi metal. I would double check you have the correct ring first.

wouldn’t want to be filmed re fitting a belt on a condenser drier… anyway, what is still wrong with these driers after the mod has been done other than the idiot user?

Tried new standard (4mf) capacitor. Didn’t make any difference and motor is not humming. Difficult! Very definitely.
Trying to reason this, if 230v remained after it stopped it would likely overheat the motor or give some indication – humming etc?
Laurence
could be either an overheat stat clicking off and breaking the circuit or just a bad connection in the motor somewhere. If its got a constant 230 voltage and not running then it has to be the pump.

+1 My heart sinks when I walk in and see a Smeg freestanding dishwasher. they have a kick strip that nearly always breaks when removed, usually 3 pcbs in the door as opposed to one a huge weight screwed to the back….. etc.

need to get a volt meter on the motor plug see if the feed is dropping out after the 30 secs or so. (not easy on these I know) If cap then motor will hum so should be obvious. (can replace that cap with standard shape one, usually a spare hole in the back for mounting)
