    Re: Recommended Listening

I got that metal box too, Dave, (for those who dont know, its like a cinema film can) Mine was pretty much unplayable from new and got worse as the discs got scratched eveytime I tried to get them out of the tin. plus, over the years its been awkward to store it, its been propped up against various walls in several houses, used as a stencil to draw around by me (drawing a “crass” logo on a leather jacket circa 1979) and now my kids use it for drawing circles with and rolling it around the floor. I guess it will be passed down the family for years to come.
sadly, cd’s and everything from then on has klled off the rare vinyl market, its just too easy to produce a new run of discs. The only thing I have of any real value is a Buzzcocks spiral scratch original, not sure about my John Cooper Clarke triangle shaped single though.

So we build this company up from roots from, what was it? a couple of ex Hoover engineers? to the point where the owners can flog it off (I dont blame them for that by the way and I would do the same thing) to a large national and then they start flogging stuff to Joe P cuttting us out of the picture. After all, they now know exactly what to stock having learned from our ordering patterns. I wonder though how knowledgable their parts staff are though? As I think we all know, you need to be an expereinced engineer to sell parts properly and I wonder if the same guy who just sold a ballcock is now trying to flog a indesit eeeprom module.
Got to feel sorry for those in Maidstone who knew about customer service and tried their hardest to help.

Hey Charlieboy, cool it a bit. Kevin was only suggesting cleaning up the drum shaft, removing rust, burrs, pitts etc. I am sure you agree that that is normal practice, personally I use emery cloth but what the heck.
As for this problem, i usually remove the backplate again and re-fit it as Its often an alighnment problem, common on Philco’s in the past.

    Re: WATCH OUT!!!!

Godamn, it has happenned to me and the job invoices have been paid without comment.
I did get the communication about the re call but it didnt mention anything about us being charged for the parts. Whats more, the parts were sent to the customer in a box with a label on saying that no signature is required which means any parcels that go astray are billed to me.

Thanks Kevin for bringing this to our attention.

J Mascis, the main singer guitarist in Dinasaur Jr was the guy who coined the phrase “slacker” or rather he was described as that due to his total lack of ever wanting to do anything. This led to friction between the Bass player, Lou Barlow, who was anything but a slacker and left the band in 1989 (ish) and did alright for himself with both Sebadoh and Folk implosion. It was therefore a big surprise to see them back together for this tour. Dino jr did have a hit record in the 90’s with a cover of the cure’s just like heaven. a song which suddenly cuts out about half way through, due the Mr Mascis’s lethargy about working out how to finish it. Given that it was a cover, it shouldnt have been that hard!

    Re: Brandt/De detriech/Hotpoint even dishwasher

Your right Dave, it is the valve between the circ pump and the spray arms, it is the motorised version as opposed to the MFI/Hotpoint basic type which is just a plastic moulding. I bet the Pre connect Brandt price would have been cheaper. It was a top of the range Brandt dishwasher (we sold it too 😯 ) I guess the same as the De detriech intergrated one.

Yes it does fit, and the capacitor slots into a slot in the chassis. Its an easy job, no worries.

We had a couple of these for the pcb/pressure switch mod. But AFAIK we were never invoiced for the parts so I didnt Bill MFI for them, I will now check that this is the case. God knows why they are doing it that way other than cutting out our(small) spares mark up. Given the carriage charge I am not that bothered.

Just to bring closure to this thread, it was the motorised valve that was leaking, god knows from where, I just guess it was cracked and would open up under pressure. A new one fitted and all is well and electrue only charged me £69 for the part! Me, I am back off to bed.

Tip, the whole gearbox, motor and shaft assembly can be slid out from underneath without even touching that nut on the top with the drum in situ. That will give you access to the clutch/brake thing.

Not seen one, Gonzo. Considering 95{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of all installations are “stub” type these days, (despite all the bumpf in the instalation instructions about standpipes) it could be a big problem.
