    Re: The Great EEPROM scam

Great post Andy, and despite the differring EEproms you should also mention the fact that the modules themselves are differrent (at least 3 differrent ones) and that no one seems to be able to tell which one is the correct one despite having the part numbers off partfinder. Not to mention that some of the so called replaceable eeproms are in fact soldered in yet others have sockets.

one thing to watch out for when selling spares is a little trick that caught me out once and someone else tried it the other day. They buy a new fan element for a cooker and 1 hour later bring it back, with the opened wrapping and say its faulty. I megger it infront of them and yes it is faulty. What they do is bring back the original faulty one and hey presto its BOGOFF time!
These were both Neff items, only 18months -2 years old and there was no visual differrence between a brand new element and their old open circuit one.

The ovens for one are identical. Functional parts wise at least.

This is a smeg made one so check the coil on the dispenser and also the inlet valve. Have you left it long enough after the beeps? Sometimes they sit there is silence for a good minute or so before doing much. unusual not to get an error code though so may be a module problem.

Is there any more model details Alan? Try on the rating usually fidge. I can find a pin and a pin sleeve which may be the parts you want but the model number is a 6 figure number starting with 350.

Was there not a piece of paper explaining this in the box? Look at the arrangement of holes and the connector tags.
