I have got one of these now, can anyone tell me what the wires into the door actually do as there is no control or icemaker in the door. Assume, as John found in 2011 its a complete door to repair?

squeak is hopefully just a riding up belt on the pulley as above. I have never known any washing machine drum look central if you ( or more likely the user) watch it long and hard enough. Front plate should fit right on centrally- never had an issue.

    Re: whirlpool SIOS discs

When I enquired with Whirlpool a couple of years ago about a source for looking up part numbers, they told me, despite being an account holder with them, to visit http://www.4whirlpool.co.uk/ in other words connect. Useless!

I wonder how they would have reacted had I ordered direct with a load of connect barcode numbers?

until you re visit you are not going to know, could be anything like a piece of old bearing in the pump even. That seal cassette will push in easily, although there is a tool to do this which makes it easier. Were the old bearings actually gone? you can get a fault on older Asko’s where the bearing spider comes loose where it is crimped onto the edges of the inner drum. The official cure was to pump silicon sealant into the gap to take up the slack, I have been caught out with this as it does feel exactly like bearing failure when moving the drum up and down by hand. I am certain they were over this problem before the 1606 came out so I doubt its your issue but worth looking at maybe. The other thing is there is a thin “wavy” washer under the drum pulley which can get trapped when re fitting the pulley giving the impression it is tight but then in use it loosens up, could even be the belt being fitted in the wrong groove on the motor and has ridden up on the shoulder of the pulley making the noise.

’bout time they found a home for that key

Hotpoint Fridge Freezer model FF4DXUK but loads of others, the type with a power pcb at the rear.

Appliance dead (no light even) after a power cut (see above post)
PCB had blown 10uf capacitor and 10 ohm resistor (3 watt wire wound in this case) open circuit. Replaced both and all now working fine.

    Re: SIMPLE PCB REPAIR TIPS

Hotpoint/ Indesit dishwashers completely dead after power surge or power cut, later models/ heat pump style eg FDF780X but loads of others. ( the ones with the power pcb under the door).

Flat above a local pub, company came out to test the fire alrams and turned the power off and back on again, Dishwasher (although not on at the time) never worked again… nor did the Hotpoint Fridge Freezer.
Popped the board out to see hole in top of capacitor:

the 10 ohm resistor alongside was open circuit and burned underneath- could not see that until I changed the cap. cap is 10uf 400v (RS 365 4751) once both replaced machine up and running.
    now on to the fridge!
