    Re: the best bearings…

with Martin on this one and don’t believe any washing machine bearings are over stressed in any way so go for the cheapest, even bearings with no shield at all are fine as its the seal that counts and any water getting in there will wash the grease out regardless, whats more think you are coming at this from the wrong angle, saving a £1 or so on a bearing will not make the job more profitable considering the time, and possible complications, it takes to complete these jobs and how many decent jobs you are missing out on while doing so. Perhaps that is the reason you are picking up so many bearing jobs.

its E7 water meter fault, will probably find this model does not have a water meter so may be worth trying this fix.

yep, the first 3 caused by:

    leaking tripod seals.

predominantly, most calls were for spin faults.

might have a hard copy hidden away somewhere…
Don’t remember many wash faults on those other than leaking tripod seals. The pumps sometimes seized and the belt would burn a groove into the pump pulley eventually stopping it or breaking the belt. Think also a micro switch on the heat selector switch would burn out and stop the wash motor running. Been a long time mind. not sure I would take one on nowdays.

E mail address? and yes, normal smeg practice to have loads of loose wires, need to be careful when removing wires as if you drop one sometimes you pick up 3 loose ones instead.

more or less the same, would be better to try with real part numbers, the difference is, and Connect don’t seem to realise this as they sometimes supply either as an alternative, is the length of the tags behind the bracket. On certain ovens, if the tags are too long they stick right into the heart of the terminal block with disastrous consequences and I guess you will know how I found that one out. For this reason I only carry the short tag version. (311 77 04-00/1)as these seem to fit all 2.5kw applications.

been out and with 3 thermometers inside oven at various positions measured temp

set knob to 220 degrees oven does not get over 200

looked for adjustment on stat to tweek a bit but has none

    any thoughts

    dave

    ps emails smeg and got

    Thank you for your request,

Sorry but due to company policy i cannot advise how to dismantle or repair any appliance. if you are unsure of how to complete the repair you should contact a local engineer to complete the repair for you

    very helpfull

What was the original fault? Same thing at a guess? Assuming they are using fan setting, check it has the correct element in it, if its a multifunction oven then check both elements are working. Is the thermostat pilot light going out at 220 (set), 200 degrees (your temp reading) degrees? If the light is not going out then suggest a clamp meter to monitor the current drawn is constant and not cutting in and out from a bad connection somewhere other than the thermostat. Also check the door is shutting tightly- not worn out hinges.
Have plenty of complaints of ovens not hot enough but a thermometer check using a thermocouple over, say as 30 minute period, plotting the temps every 2 minutes or so usually prove it is working correctly.

    there is no thermostat adjustment.

    Re: Belling BI60FP Oven

its most likely what she is cooking rather than a fault with the oven. Some ovens are “sealed” and steam up inside when stuff is cooked straight form the freezer. This sounds like a non sealed oven so will steam up the room if the conditions are correct. Suggest opening a window maybe?
