ours, after another year of use, is showing signs of the silver coating being scratched which do appear to look like crack but are nothing more than the outer coating.

dont get me wrong, having come into this trade from an electronics background, all be it way back in the days of BT139 triacs or even massive thyristors paired with a massive diode, I am well versed in board repairs and will take on one if it looks like a simple failure not caused by by an unknown failure elsewhere (e.g relays, burnt out resistors etc)and I recently spent half a day (Sunday!) changing relays on a miele td heater relay board, (Double sided track is a nightmare).
But from a business point of view, how can you charge for all the time and hassle and in that respect cleaning filters all day makes much more sense. Electronics as a hobby is fine and I must admit I found the recent Miele power board fuse and relay thread interesting as I have puzzled over those no drum action faults for many years. Keep up the good work as Martin said.

mike, you got way too much time on your hands, one look at that board and I would suggest to the customer its BER, bound to be something caused it to go pop and IME virtualy impossible to find the problem without several expensive blow ups!

    Re: Merloni Smart Card Readers

Its pretty easy to use and it does come with instructions, must admit dont use it much but not had a failure as yet. On the fridges, every time I have programmed one the red “failure” light has come on but in each case it had programmed successfully. There is a second version I think and I dont think they are all compatible with the older modules. The biggest issue is that no one stocks all the smart cards, allways a special order or get direct from Indesit.

have a manually selectable hot (65 or 70) program, not relying on auto programs only a la Bosch.

£75 having a laugh comes to mind!
sounds like the rubber rings may be from the push buttons, the pcb’s do come loose in those things if pressed to hard.

pcb, you should always get at least some lights showing. That one though has seperate pcb’s for the lights/display which could be the problem. Obvioulsy a ribbon cable connects to the main pcb and it is possible to fit this back to front, has anyone else looked at it before you? Just a thought.
If the main pcb is blown, I always quote for all the boards as I have been caught out too many times with a working machine with no lights showing.

    display pcb 811650317
    key pad pcb 811650311

pretty much up to date, had their end of year accounting period on the last day of April which may explain any late payments.
Portal getting better by the day it would seem, just wish you could build a spares order rather than having to order every little item immediatly before it gets lost when you (or it) logs off.
