is that a weighting difference then?

Well, part numbers have been from Bosch E shop for the model involved, (they are all the same as its in a development). and as far as I can see, the hinge socket on these is simply a locating bracket with no moving parts or rollers. + fitting the hinge does cure the problem initially and whats more we have done probably hundreds of these for the same fault over the years with no problems at all.
I am in contact with Appliance care over this as i suspect a faulty batch of hinges, just wanted to know if anyone else can back me up on this claim.
Thanks for the other info Mike but I think its irrelevent in this case, a flimsy closing door will let the heat out regardless of where any shelves are placed..

    sorry, missed this one.
pcb would suggest if no sign of a leak that is.

odom wrote:Always worth checking them before fitting too – I’ve been caught out twice fitting genuine Miele valves which have failed within a few days of fitting. You’d think for £50 they’d be decent, but judging by the boxes they’d been sitting on shelves for a while, presumably with Miele engineers getting any new ones.

just have to add here that some Miele washers use 110volt inlet valves so always get the correct one, even within a model range they can be different…..

and to get back on topic, I can certainly say that the water in base error on the newest machines will re set with no action once the water has been removed. Not yet experienced any more serious code to be able to add anything more.
But, the older ones do go into a default mode with something as simple as a blocked air bell and this cannot be re set without a lap top (or fitting a new control module), thankfully on later (and earlier) models, this feature was removed.

Most big companies have all that sort of thing on a recorded message played after you have talked to a human, they know full welll no one will ever listen to all of it.

there is loads of stuff that needs to be said officially, cold cooker advice, payment methods etc but the customer generally only hears what they want to hear no matter how its put forward.

If thats a 3 bolt type front machine, (will be if 10 years old) then Qualtex part number QUADBT91 is a top quality alternative, even comes in a box!

Re: Hotpoint GDA motor tacho magnet

mmm…. confused .com here as I have removed one from a Analogue motor and its sits too proud of the generator coil that it rubs on the bracket that straddles it (so much so that you cannot fit the coil retainer bracket.). Yet according to that photo, the analogue one is the smaller. The one I need is around the size of the centre one in the photo but has hollowed ends to fit over the end of the armature on one end and for the retainer screw to sit in on the other end.

I would recomend you have a very close look at the main board on that one for signs of blows. Would suggest the door lock has gone and blown the main board, in turn taking the user board with it. Every main board I have changed has also required the user board as well for, although visualy ok, the buttons do not respond and /or no lights/displays.

Actually, it makes it a LOT easier.

Simples. Actually a lot, lot simpler than faffing about with invoices from different periods with different VAT rates on them.

    K.

Just back date the invoice to the date you did the job, Bazza. Even if its in a different vat period for you, you still will not have had to post/submit your return yet, assuming of course you leave it to the last minute like the rest of us!

TBH Bosch Eshop, whatever, has not been as efficient as it used to be since a re-vamp about a couple of months back.
It seems they have made it more user friendly for the public and less so for us. eg. enter some model numbers and you get a page of accesories first and have to click through before reaching the spares explodeds. Each time, for me anyway, this is acompanied by a windows security pop up message which is just anoying.
Have had no problems sending and recieving orders though.

the most common, difficult to see, leak I have had on these are a leaking solonoid valve. Odd really as you rarely get them leaking on other appliances.
Usual suspects are, as stated above.
