Re: how to get on links page on WTA site

Slightly off topic but I just had a look on the WTA website and inputted my own postcode in the find an engineer link and I’m not there 😯 .

Some time ago I put myself “on holiday” on repairs@ as all I was getting was time wasters who had done the internet/diy/ebay etc and were using repairs@ as a last resort.

I still don’t want the cr@p but would like to be listed on the site as I do pay my subs (when I get an invoice that is).

Whilst I am here I haven’t had any response on the Amica seller service arrangements yet and I wont start selling them until I can do the warranty work on them.

I only sell about 6 a month but I could probably do a few more with a cheaper product to offer.

So why did they bother to glue it in the factory?

It won’t leak much if you don’t glue it and won’t fail within the 90 day warranty 😉

I always glue it in but I am a perfectionist.

Went into Halfords today and the guy in front of me was trying to buy snow chains.

His car was a VW golf with lowered suspension, alloys with ultra low profile tyres and body kit fitted.

They wouldn’t sell him any for a multitude of reasons but it was funny watching him trying to get out of the car park driving his “SNOW PLOUGH” 😈 😈 😈

    Re: Next Machine Introduction

I could shift a few B/I dishwashers if the price was right.

As for a lower price Asko build why not offer the same machine with cosmetic changes but with a 10 year parts only warranty?

It would remove insurance rejections as the repairer would collect labour on every call including blockages and would shut up the muppets on the public forum, although perhaps not as I think one of them is looking for a “news story”

Re: Whirlpool 3LSC8255EQ1 Top Loader Service Manual

The friction pads can wear out, break or get contaminated.
There are two sets of three (both different)

Only other thing I can think of to check is the weight ring around the top rim of the wash drum.
It contains water which moves round during spin and helps to even out imbalance.
If the water has got out the balance will be affected.
Don’t know if it comes as a spare or if you need a complete drum.

monkey wrote:It is banging during the spin,I put this down to it spinning full of water, I called to another top loader and I watched it empty and it did not release the brake till it was empty of water.

Some machines have a neutral drain gearbox fitted which does what it says ie. drains in neutral.
Most UK models will start spinning full of water.

Check for a broken suspension spring.
The one at the back which is connected from the tub mount down to the chassis is the likely culprit.

    Quote from fleabay.

“They will need sorting out as some of them are split or hard but even if half of them are good youll still make £100’s”

Maybe not such a good purchase if they are going off already.

    Its supposed to do that.

    What is the reported fault?

I don’t know exactly how it works except that if it gets really clarted up it wont work.

I have a new one on the van which has been there since 2005 and if I aint used one in 5 years I probably never will.

If you’re sure thats the fault you can have it for beer money.

Optical water indicator (I think) AKA turbidity sensor

I find the best way is to twist it to the correct alignment then push it out from inside the sump.

Very hard to get it out in one piece so unless you know it to be faulty I would leave it in.

On the subject of energy saving or rather money saving I would advise everyone to go onto uswitch and get a better deal on energy supply.

I did and reduced my outgoings by £45 a month which is more than enough to cover the cost of running my inefficient old appliances.

Re: I May As Well Tell You All…

Just had another listen and that guy from the manufacturers assoc could be a politician with his evading the question asked and quoting “government stats” which are always true as we all know.

The average life for a washing machine was quoted as 7 years but this takes into account a lot of older machines which are bumping up the average.

Doesn’t help my customer today with a 3 year old Whirlpool 45cm d/w with a repair bill which would have exceded the purchase price. 👿
