    Re: Bertazzoni induction failure

there is a complete lack of phone numbers on their site

is unit out of warranty ?

if no you need to keep trying to get hold of them. Are there any service contact numbers in the owners book ?
you look on the site for a local supplier and be cheeky and ask them

if all else fails a few chosen words on their facebook page should get you noticed

neon lamps will light on 3mA so can does not need a lot of leakage to make them light and also only need 90v ( in neon screwdrivers the current goes through your body )

so you looking for a switch which has a high resistance when open somewhere below 80K ohms or so

have sent you a pm with the wiring if it helps

F13 is a communication error between the motor control card and the machines timer

These machines are not easy to diagnose due to the complex electronics and 3 phase motor, all you can try after turning machine off and unplugging is to remove and replace signal wires ( ribbon cables or small wires) in case the connections have got dirty or loose
After that it gets harder and the test proceedures get very technical

well looked up your model and shorting a timer is an ok repair but it wont work on this model ( if number correct)
have not got very good pictures on this but i would look at the switches you use to set everything. if they are pushbuttons then use your meter to see if they close when pushed , also check power supply board for blown caps ( same fault as hotpoint modules)
if all this fails new cooker as some parts are obsolete

Re: LG Direct Drive Washing machine making heck of a row

    your squeal

assume its during the washing phase so cant be drum its moving too slow

most LG autos have 2 pumps. pump 1 drains the machine. pump 2 recirculates the water during wash and sprays water from the top of the door rubber onto the washing.
sometimes when these pumps are failing they can make a heck of a racket

chances are its the cold water valve located where the inlet hose connects at the back. if you remove it coil can be checked with a meter. shoulb be around 5-7k ohms

if you need a parts breakdown go here http://www.bosch-home.co.uk/store/spareparts/search

also take left hand side off and check pressure switch unit item 482936 on diagram 4 at above site dont think it your fault this time but they get blocked easily

did the unit start the programme and fill ? if no

this unit uses a 3 phase drain pump and senses the current to the pump to determine if the unit is empty. if the pump is worn the current increases and the unit wrongly assumes it is still full

    Re: Oven and Hob compatibility

then you have a problem no other oven will fit and unless you buy 2 new units it wont work

if its just the clock thats broken is can be shorted electrically so it no longer works but the oven will

even if you find the heating element does not mean its at fault

it could be the heating element but could also be pressure switch, wiring or timer all of which will give the same fault

at this point the complete lack of info from miele does not help

    I would try 2 things

1 instead of wet clothes in the drum put a wet cloth on the brush gear to give the effect of wet clothes in the drum but its more certain
2 check the wiring of the sensor back to the pcb

Also the convention in DC theory that it flow from +ve to -ve is also flawed after they discovered electrons where negatively charged and flowed the other way

its not easy but some of us have done a lot of electrical theory during our apprenticeships.

in some ways all you need to understand is how the circuit functions. all electrical wiring goes in circles, without 2 wires coming to and from the generating source nothing would work. forget about in and out its not relevant in an AC circuit.
if i am testing a valve to see if its energized first i will check for voltage across the valve and if i don’t get anything i will check again with 1 lead on the earth so i know whether its live or neutral missing

If your Boss bit your head off through lack of knowledge then I have little respect for him. there must have been many times when he was learning that he got the wrong idea

To understand better you need to know how the supply comes into a house
the electric supply is carried round the country at very high voltages to reduce losses. but in the end it is tranformed down to 230V. The neutral wires is then bonded to an earth plate in the substation. This means that the neutral wires voltage is at or just above earth potential. So you could touch the neutral and not get a shock
all that asside no circuit will work without a current flow, and current in an AC circuit changes direction, so both wires carry the current to the load but 1 wires voltage is almost at earth potential

in fault conditions its the voltages you measure that give the game away. take a simple vacuum cleaner where the wire to the appliance has broken. if you measure no voltages on the terminal block then the live circuit has broken but if you measure all lives then the neutral has broken
