Re: Councils ‘failing’ companies that want to recycle

    tell me about it

council tells me i cant use the paper bank outside my shop nor can i put my cardboard in the recycle facilty at a local tesco
what i have to do is cut it up and force it in a bin bag to be collected by my trade collector amd the likelyhood of recycling is zero

if you let me have an email will send you the fault find chart and test prog info
in fault find it gives a list of resistances for the prog selector

    1. Position ~1 Kohm
    2. Position ~2 Kohm
    3. Position ~3 Kohm
    4. Position ~ 4Kohm
    5. Position ~ 5Kohm
    6. Position ~6 Kohm
    7. Position ~7 Kohm
    8. Position ~8 Kohm

    up to
    16. Position 16 Kohm

so approx 1K per click check that

have you had a look at the buttons on the top control panel to make sure there are no dry joints where the switches solder to the board ?

Re: Hoover / Candy Module Resistor

from the look of it you have another resistor the same on top left of second picture
looks like 10 ohm from colours brown black black

if the other resistor does a similar job it will be the same

Just a few questions before I give up hope completely:
Does the cordless bit mean that there might be some sort of transformer already in the base?
Is there any chance that it might work with a lighter-duty (= cheaper/ smaller) transformer / adapter, or would I just fry it the moment I plugged it in?
Do appliance manufacturers leave any room for manoeuvre in their advertised electrical ratings?
Finally, anyone moving to the USA want a very nice cord/ cordless iron going at a bargain price? :rolls:

    Thanks again

    Chris

    1) no tranformer in base there is no point they make the irons to work on american voltage.
did you not enquire if they made a 230v model ?
    2) tranfomer has to be able to supply 1430 watts or more anything less is a fire hazard
    3) there is room for manoeuvre but only 20 volts or so not double

you would need a step down transformer capable of at least 1500va (1500 watts )

    see this site
    http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/range … 9A15436A24

    this model minimum
    CTR1500/2

you can pick these up secondhand on ebay and the like theyare meant for use on building sites for safety puposes

Re: Help with problem solving an electric hob.

if i have the right info, to control the rings the knobs click round through 6 positions

there can be only 2 faults if this is the case

    1) the rings have failed these rings have 2 elements and if one fails they dont get very hot
    2) the control switches have failed. these switches have about 5 contacts and you should be able to inspect them and look for overheating and see whether the switches operate correcly. you could buy 1 switch as a test or swop the good switch around to see if another ring works
make sure you take good photos and diagrams of all wiring before you start and of course make sure the electric is off before you start

Re: Help with problem solving an electric hob.

I would question there warranty conditions and whether they can get away with this
All appliances have to be fit for purchase and last a reasonable length of time. Also a period of 2 weeks to wait for delivery is unreasonable for a customer like yourselves whos cooker has failed completely. I would have a word with consumer advice and see what they say. From my point of veiw I could understand there being no guarentee on the parts that could break during transit but thats all

    Back to your problem

The grills problem will be the simmerstat the control at the back of the knob
The rings are a bit more difficult since I have no model to find out what type of rings are fittd but the knob melting give me pause for concern and leads me to the conclusion you need a professional to look at it
