Re: John Lewis (Zanussi) inline diode to t/o element

getting a diode should not be a problem choose a diode with a suitable piv ( peak inverse voltage) say 600v and then get one to take the current being drawn.

you say the diode is inline ? in series with the element?

    cant see that somehow why would you halfwave a supply to an element cutting its output to 50{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}

i dont know this cooker but you would need to figure out what this diode is doing and why

    then my only suggestion is

    😆

but you will have to put in a special request to preserve the washing machine because if they damage it you cant fix it 😆

long shot check child lock is not on

after that sounds like serious pcb failure as any other fault would display fault codes etc

you can get owners manual here if you need it

    Re: Bosch carbon-brush motors

Cant remember the last time i had a Bosch motor fail after needing brushes. i agree they can and do fail but in my own experience its not common.
one mistake that is made when fitting brushes is to make sure the brushes go all the way in. recently I bought a 10 year old Bosch off ebay for £30, fault no motor turn. when I picked it up the owner said he had tried brushes but on inspection one of the brushes was jammed in the holder.
For some reason its always the rear right hand brush that needs a push to get it home
Also there is a toc in series with the aramture which can fail. This is not available as a spare part but the one out of the early hotpoint motors can be adapted and soldered in

with the clock failed your oven will not work

    there are 2 choices
    1 replace the clock
    2 short the clock out

choice 1 is the most expensive and if you do not use the clock it is pointless
choice 2 requires finding the right wires to join together on the clock to get the oven working. best left to a professional but cost will only be for labour as there is less than a pound in parts

i agree had a spate of them last year in quick succession but in my case would need 2 terminals one of them mobile. With a free cash machine up the road from the shop cant justify the outlay per month as i dont think it will bring anymore business to pay for it
