But, if people treated their Dyson’s with more TLC, the flex’s and hoses, would never break.

and we would lose all that work

all appliances contain interferance suppression which allows a small amount of electricity to flow to earth. normally this flows away harmlessly but if there is no earth you will feel a tingle when the appliance is touched

i still use freefind even though the last update was last may if you are searching for a cooker element freefind will allow you to search by dimensions to allow you to look for oddment elements

    hope this helps

you will not get a pure resistive load to draw more current if you lower the voltage if you lower volts you lower current in proportion basic ohms law

at the moment the supply can vary -6{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} +10{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} which at a nominal 230v tops out at 253v rms

    Re: vax

agree with you on the spares delay but when talking to vax the other day i was told if the dealer is within 20 miles they expect the customer to get the machine to their service agent. i remarked that shops were closing down due to the demise of the trade and the reply was they use a courier to bring machines back to them for repair. if this trend continues they will do all repairs in house with no need for spare parts to be available for the trade it is no wonder that our birmingham freinds do not stock much if anything

    Re: Removing appliance plugs.

    @ phidom

some new machines Hotpoint i think use a cable with a moulded plug on one end and a moulded supressor on the other i tend to make a short extension lead and plug machine into this that way if i have to repair the appliance i can move it around without problem. Best way is to carry a trailing socket and when removing old machine cut the lead at the machine end and install socket

    dimensions required

1 overall width from connection plate to tip of element

2 internal diameter of element rng

    3 wattage if avail

Re: The older it is the higher the price!

i have long held this conclusion for manufacturers

take an average machine with a part you dont want to manufacture or have to order high quantities to make at the right price. coupled with the need to supply spare part to meet statutory legislation

you increase the price of the spare to a level where no one will buy the spare result you only have to keep 1 or 2 in stock and nobody can complain you are not supplying spares for relativly young machines

bad news for manufacturers is people who get this treatment never buy your product again they have long memories and so do their freinds
