    nobody has looked at the obvious you do not need the macine electronics only a power dimmer powering the motor direct you can vary the speed and control it off camera with ease

    Re: WMA34 sump tank….

    you say your sump tank is blocked but do not mention your actual fault

    if it is a blockage stopping the water from leaving the machine there is a filter located at the back of the machine in the hose leaving the tub and going to the pump. if you remove this hose from the tub you will find a plastic container that stops socks and the like

    unplug machine and be carefullof metalwork some can be sharp

    if it is the brushes they will be sparking when the macine is in use but a good check is either to remove them and look at them or give them a firm knock with the handle of a screwdriver will normally give you normal use for long enough to determinr if these were the fault

    turn power off first if in doubt call the experts

    sound like you may not be getting all the windings of the motor pulling on the same side. as with all brush motors these are series wound but will still try to turn if the field coil is not powered up. check to see if there is any way the field coil could be short circuited i know it seems a long shot but since you have changed motor and board that is all that is left. i assume you know the other motor you fitted did not have the same fault (been there)

    sorry had not noticed i had not put letters in model no will post tomorrow when i have checked cant remember them

    @ simon46 no it does not work any better on 30 cycle

    will take off element cover and check for a carbon pickup

    there were one or two times when the element came back on for a second time but then failed later. its like the board is being told to keep element off through a faulty sensor or the like

    thanks for all help so far

    yes it is the one with the carbon brush have held brush in contact and does not seem to change problem

    there is a setting for a 30 min cycle since this is timed i would not expect the sensors to be active but i may be wrong

    Re: Multiple capacitor failure on creda C dryers

    sold three creda condensor dryers new all three had cap failure within 6 months

    as for capacitor value the higher the value of the capacitor you put in the lower the effective resistance will be

    to the formula 1/ 2 pi F C

    pi = 3.14
    f = frequency of supply
    c= capacitance in Farads

    7uf = 454 ohms
    8uf = 397 0hms

    you can see the difference so you cant go too far also if you put a value that is a long way out and somthing goes wrong you might get the blame

    all these motors work in the same way as a series wound motor suggest you put a load in series for initial test this can be as low as a 100w lamp of use a grill element thus if you have a short circuit either to earth or the like you will not get a big bang. it will also calm down the initial start torque. after the motor is running you can switch out the load. i used this method to recondition the ols ac and dc modules and motors from the older hoover autos

    Re: Module/Timer repairers not playing fair?

    i agree with kwatts sentiments its the trade suppliers in general that are the problem. they grab every sale no matter how small when all they have to do is recommend a local supplier of their products. had a local supplier who was advertising in local papers which i thought was a bit off and not so long ago was looking at setting up his warehouse less than quarter of a mile from my shop which upset me slightly. am glad to say this never happened and he now operates from his home after going into liquidation to get out of vat and the lease but george hulme still deals with him and would not let me deal direct

    have dealt with emw for a while had a few problems but mostly with a candy module and selector that went pear shaped sorted it now but it went back 5 times to sort it. i must point out i do not blame tony i think it was just very bad luck and intermittant faults can be a pain

    dont know part nos not on the letter sent by seme

    but think i can see the point of replacing both parts think i will scrap it as the door outer has cracked as well.

    if mag takes the board you would have thought a firm like panasonic would have built in protection circuits.

    Thanks
