Moderatorin Vickie’s case the oullet of the dishwasher goes to a stand pipe and is not connected direct to the sink waste. since this pipe has a water trap ( u bend) that holds water to stop smells from entering a building it can form air locks in the outlet hose if this hose is pushed so far into the pipe that it contacts the water. the outlet hose should be no more than 8 to 10 inches into the pipe

Moderatoryes the water pressure is used to close the valve but not had any leak through low pressure
what you need to do is take the top off the machine and disconnect the water inlet hoses from the soap dispenser one at a time and see if you have water comong in slowly and to determine which valve is faulty

Moderatorif water is getting in the machine it can only be one of 2 things. cold water from the mains or dirty water from the sink
if its cold water from the mains and power is off it has to be a valve fault cant be anything else

Moderatorto be honest its not that hard
you have to find a normally open one about the right size.
I keep one type in stock and its one from rs components and i pickede it purely on whether it fitted in the space

Moderatorsometimes machines continue to fill as its washing
you need to check if the water stops flowing in well before it failts out
Dave

Moderatorit may be filling but does it know that ?
there is a sensor on the inlet that measures the water if this goes faulty it does not know its filling and gives the fault
when in the programme does this fault happen ?
