it would be worth finding out if they have teh dreaded askoll fitted as std, or a normal circ pump.

have done askoll replacements on full size ignis, primas, ikeas, diplomats and something else, no reason to suspect a 45 ignis wouldnt have an askoll too. cata i think?

thought it was only whirlpools that were guaranteed to have the proper circ pump, but even then, the rubber seals would still disintegrate…

how will THAT get you any repeat business, apart from anyhting else is well in addition to manufacturers orginal specs 🙂

but seriously, its not worth it, its little gain, if the customer cannot be fuzzckled to turn their taps off in the garage/shed once theyve finished using it, let them pay, im had my fill of stupid/ignorant/iknowbetterthanyou people to last my lifetime…

    Re: Baumatic appliances

apple its not amica as the baumatic, amica and statesman models mentioned are all essentially contract machines – i.e a stock carcass, but individually specced to order, much like the ongoing hoohar about ise10 vs maytags vs asko…

it doesnt matter what it looks like on the outside, its the quality of components on the inside.

to steer this back to baumatic, though, it seems from personal experience with numerous OVENS the components are CRAP quality, hiked price tags, reliant on style to sell them.

dont get me wrong, the fagor-built washers / washer dryers are fine, as are the new freestanding washer range where theyre tied up with samsung/daewoo/lg large load machines

fact of the matter is, if theres little internal componentry difference between a £300 trade price daewoo and a near as dammit identical spec £370 trade price baumatic, what would you go for, especially when 4 years additional warranty is only £120…

the baumatic looks smarter, and doesnt call itself daewoo, but is it really worth an extra £70 for that level of vanity and snobbishness ???

Re: WML540 hot and cold fill?

my experience of certain types of customers, is that they cannot distinguish the difference between fill and drain hoses.

if theres one thing ive remembered, is to take a large enough pinch of salt to taste yuck with everything a customer says.

even the early uk chassis rebuilds (the first wmls used the old wf shells) of a wml 540 had only one fill – cold.

Re: Siemens WDI 1640 Washer/Dryer – Drying Problem

no – a capacitor is best described as a electrical “boost” component, bit like a battery, it stores up a charge and when called upon, releases it. its a bit like using a jumpstart pack on a car… it has very little to do with condensing… first postentential culprit to interrogate, is the humble cold fill valve, it almost sounds like theres no cold water in the outer drum to allow the hot damp air to condense onto it… you can test this the laymans way by starting a normal drying-only program. you should hear a whoosh of cold water enter during the first minute. this is normal, and the no1 reason why i get calls from people with new washer dryers…

PS there is not a condensing unit in this machine, of the type that you would get in a normal condenser dryer…

PPS if you dont know what a capacitor is you should not be fiddling with your machine – this is not me being faceatous, its me trying to tell you you are out of your depth…

Re: beko wma520 – 1st wash and just stuck in program

thats was a concern, customers since decided to reject having it back so now just to decide whether to have it looked at and sell it as graded or request an uplift :s either way, if its graded ill still get a decent price for it, and if its uplifted i get the cash back.

one question, and this is only to authorised beko engineers, how many recalls / any issues of recalls for the same problem do they have for this model, or is it a case of a service update on pcb / up-specced part that doesnt cause confliction etc that sorts problem machines out for good.

thing i dont want to have happen is get it sorted then every 3 mths down the line have beko out to do swap the pcb again and again until warranty is out

put it this way the machines of theirs that are worth having, arent worth buying, as you can usually get the source manufacturers machines about 20{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} cheaper trade, and dont forget most of the dishwashers and int laundry is now haier

    Re: Lamona

dont “not buy lamona” – its just lamona is expensive from howdens 🙂

id personally buy a widely recognised non-rebadged model such as a new world nw60g.

thing with buying exclusives from howdens or ikea, is that spares go thru the repackaging roundabout, meaning as end-user you end up paying for 2x or 3x amount of handling required to stock it.

the ikea looks like a bosch but at that price, is probably italian made out of the same factory as a baumatic or something similar, but dont quote me on that and dont start me on baumatic, lamona are just rebadged whirlpool beko or candy, with a nice price tag.

also. fan assisted gas cooking? i thought stoves had a patent on that… regardless, they had so many issues with the rotostar gas ovens they dropped it iirc.

PS dont be fooled by a “5yr warranty” it means nothing if only the spares are covered when fitted with a paid call out, if the call out is £100-ish !!!

is there any display on the clock?

if yes, then its probably stuck on auto mode. check usermanual for instructions. easiest way is to turn it off at the main switch, leave it for at least 20 mins, then follow instructions to set clock and try again…

Re: Homark oven – which model is it?

ade the staining is normally due to heat being vented thru the handle grills… BUT id agree the hinges look a bit worn as the door portrudes from the fascia slightly.

looks very much like a whirlpool, and if its only fan assisted, rather than a circular fan oven, then the dual circuit grill (which it prob is as its a homark) will be between £35-55, this is ovbiously assuming its even a fan oven, it could well be static.

single ovens are so cheap these days, if it was my customer id suggest replacing it with a bosch hbn331w0b, hotpoint sy36w, or if you are on a budget, and dont want a clock, a beko oif21100w

I’ve recommended the RFA52 to her, as the pcb didn’t fix things, so she just wants to replace it now.
Interestingly, the doors have been reversed, so that could have had an input.
The machine’s standing on its head in my shed at the moment. I’ll invert it in a few weeks’ time, or whenever I get the chance after that, and have a play around with the door alignment, to see if it makes any difference.
    Cheers,
    Pigpen.

no idea if it will make a serious difference now, but ive always been wary of it since a h/p “super” engineer went out to 2x ff187b we sold with “warped doors” – apparently it was a batch error, which would explain why portway had them on offer i guess, and new doors would fix them, well, both had been replaced and not been alerted of any issues, then i had a ffa with a dented door that had the doors replaced by hp, and it wouldnt stay cold enough, checked it out, and noticed gap on LHS was about 2mm and gap on RHS hinge was about 8mm, so realigned and not a prob. then we got a call to a ffa52 with identical probs where the cust husband had rehung doors on LHS, no gap issue but they were about 3mm too far to the lhs, not allowing a proper seal on the rhs…

    well worth a go i reckon…
