basically back off, pins out, hoses off, lie back (machine 8)), springs out, tub out, and unscrew

ParticipantRe: do you sell machines?
regarding warranty, depends how you play it with your customers.
if somehting fails under warranty the manufacturer will usually insist on a engineer call out to determine the fault, and whether its repairable. you can go 2 ways with this. you explain to the customer that its down to the manufacturer. so ur giving a sort of currys style “its not my problem” aftercare. sometimes tho the customer will be arsey on the phone to the manufacturer and insist on a refund if under 28 days…
now, theoretically teh manufacturer shouldnt authorise any uplift without retailers consent, but if youve washed your hands of the customer then you only have yourself to blame. then it gets awkward and messy.
if your busy and independant, then middle man sourcing can be a lot less hassle tho. you tell them what you want, go and pick it up when your ready and thats that.
with distributors you will need to have someone there to sign for the goods, usually fairly early in the morning, and remember on most orders there will be a minimum spend of £200 – £500 for free delivery not a problem if its more than 2 machines, or 1x washer….
also, depending where you have been sourcing ur machines from in the past, if it was local and independant you may be able to renegotiate a deal with them whereby you get a 30-35{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of margin for every customer you take into their shop, or when you get it direct etc. that way you get your cash and any aftersales is handled by them.

just like every other bit of legislation it seems. the issue being that the s/h gas cookers are almost always more likely to be more dangerous than the new out of the box models.

You don’t have to answer, but I was interested in how much you charge your customer for the whole job? When they could have Hotpoint do it for £104.99However if it were covered by a 5 year warranty then £104.99 to sort it may just be worth considering. Surely no-one ‘in the trade’ wouldn’t advise their customer as to the possibility that their appliance may carry a 5 years parts warranty, or would they?
Martin and spanner, i think you’re missing the point. some customers just dont trust hotpoint to do the job properly, especially if they feel the machine was possibly faulty from day 1. Not only that, after waiting on hold for over 40 minutes, and then being told by the lass on the end of the phone the repair would be 106 for the call-out plus extra per hour for the labour, they gave us a call. i did state that i was under the impression the call out included the labour but they said they didnt trust hotpoint because they wouldnt take her husbands word it was the bearings. So we’re matching the price hotpoint quoted of about £150-something and a 3 month guarantee on parts replaced. plus they dont have to sit on the phone for at least another half hour to book it, and whats more they now currently have a loan machine until the drum turns up.

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint WDD960P bearings gone
well it was those gorenje wa61111s that first made me wonder, they are really shallow in drum depth, and we replaced an indesit with one about 3 years ago at a vets. this has already surpassed the indesit by about 16 months in lifespan, and its on 5-6 times a day 5-6 times a week and the drum is still a1. no play at all or noise.

ParticipantRe: h/point sealed drums
outer tub for one of those is £62 from connect… so im guessing the wf full ass. direct from h/p will be about the same as on connect.
incidentally, my back order has now increased AGAIN to w/e 9/04….
customer will NOT be happy. im hoping it wont start to jam and completely stuff the motor/pcb before it arrives. if it does then i think h/p may well be being asked to give us a new motor…
