ParticipantRe: They dont build em like that anymore – Part 20
We picked up a working brown and beige one with the orange bit on it when we bought all the whitegoods from one of our passed on customers.
Shall i start the bidding at £35?

but i dont “naturally dislike” dogs. far from it i love interacting with animals. **edit** in a normal manner, not in a weird way…
torxhead wrote:if your not a dog lover and dislike animals you will always have problems with them. some people get on fine with animals, some dont.
AND it really isnt that black and white, extreme examples i know but there are numerous occasions where all manner of animal lovers have been killed, maimed, or harmed by the animals theyve doted on all their lives – be them domesticated or wild. Im pretty sure they would state they were never afraid or disliked them either. “naturally liking” them just isnt enough to mean they wont try to harm you, and likewise “naturally disliking” them wont automatically mean they will go for you. as with humans, animal behaviour is often hormonally controlled, and whilst many other external factors will affect their general “personality” i.e commonly rescue dogs will be very timid if theyve been abused, and volatiley aggressive if theyve been used as fighting or street dogs, (although most of those are often destroyed humanely) an unexpected dog attack is primarily going to be hormonal. e.g if they have picked up a scent of a similar breed on you and assume you to be a rival mate.
“smelling fear” is commonly misappropriated. but im not saying it never happens.

less abrasive ‘assumptions’ would be nice

ParticipantRe: How Could This Be ? Hotpoint WF860
i know it can happen – rarely albeit, had a stoves 700edo with a dodgy clock on it. lost time in similar incremements where by every 2 minutes it would increment by 1 minute. drove customers nuts…

torxhead wrote:do you do that with people too when you introduce yurself?

torxhead wrote:same thing, dogs no different.if it bites you then its only defending itself

ParticipantRe: dogs
i always give the dog a slow steady outstretched fist to sniff, if it goes for a bite and hte owners there i pull it back quick. if the owners not looking it gets a knock on the snout and i tell the owner it would be best to put the dog away,
most of the time tho the customer is saying thru the door be 2 mins puttign hte dog away…

the customers are allowed to disconnect for cleaning ect but anyone at WORK must be compedent.so thats easy. you want to work on it you just make sure the customers disconnected it before you get there because they happen to be cleaning at the time.
but seriously
im not condoning non gas safe connection, i just dont understand why if theres so many grey spots/gaps in the legislation to allow the customer to do things, then whats the point in having such legislation for engineers? I mean half the customers out there are so dozy they probably wouldnt know if it was hooked up properly or not…
