I wonder if it’s the extra distance / speed they have to travel for the same number of revs. compared to a smaller bearing.

surely theres got to be something to do with tolerances and material quality that will be the main issue.

incidentally would same bearings on say a 6kg drum that was deep f2b but narrow in diameter wear quicker than those with a shallow drum f2b and widest diameter?

yep and im keen to experiment but electronics wasnt my strongest subject at college :rolling:

but yeh if that one applies to the motor then im not gonna go any further as there is obviously an unresolved issue with this model, that hoover will never bother to rectify on the parts side of things

    ahhhhh

ive just remembered that portway have their own gas built in single oven now. very basic but must be a lot cheaper. worth asking a non-euronics independant if portway are one of their suppliers (only applies to bottom half of english retailers i think)

then you get the customers who book one call and then have another or 2 or 3 machines in addition for you to look at when you get there,

“it wont take long” and “i thought you would be able to do all of them for the one call out” are popular phrases…

    Re: scrap prices

besides, its a not a question of whether the license is necessary based on the return value from the scrap, its necessary for the retailer who wants to do well. from my own experience, old appliance removal is a key factor in customers buying from us because we dont charge to take the old non-ref appliance away like many other retailers do.

also i think youll find the council make a fair wedge of cash from their own collection service – £35 for a pick up – 1-3 machines if that was a washer dryer and dw then when they sell off the scrap thats an extra tenner too. i dont believe the council workers are on any more than £6-7 an hour either…

although the smarter customers are now cottoning on to and askign for a discount if we take the old machine away… cheeky :snig:

    Re: Stair trolley/truck

    wefve got the qualtex one.

    3 issues so far:

doesnt like turning. hard enough with a washer on it but anything really weighty ( eg smeg 70cm range ) it just feels like its gonna bend the wheels over

the “L” part is beamed all the way around, rather than having a flat suport liek many other sack trucks. this doesnt sound liek much but is actually a major pain when you have to tilt the machines an awfully long way forwards to get it even halfway under…

the lifter support wont stay in an upright position if you leave it standing vertically. and can crash down if you forget.

however on the plus side best feature ive found with the 3 wheeler, because it wont steer, if your going over rough/uneven tarmac it almost acts as suspension, and doesnt bounce and tip about like nu-tyres… so its ideal for tall things

    £85 a ton atm.

btw if you become known for stopping up the w.m. waste hoses, ur scrap value rapidly drops quite a lot.

however… i did know of a scrap guy who always used to manage to go for a toilet break (unnoticed) after his flat bed was empty. obviously having driven on and sat in the van whilst weighing in 😉

    snap. same price here too…

    word of warning.

prior to ordering i checked with connect cos it was out of stock, and they said it would be back in stock fri last week.

my back order status says w/e 02-04-2010

    so the question is:

A: are hotpoint hoarding them for their own engineers?
(even though i thought connect held all of hotpoints uk stock for hotpoint tho)

    and

B: if not hoarding them, would they they able to get the drum ass any quicker than me ?

    Re: Zanussi ZWF 12070W1 – bearings going/gone?

it wouldnt probably be worth it. most independant engineers will charge at least £65 upwards. inc vat. and im guessing even then its not guaranteed you will get your money back because at teh end of the day zanussi, like any other company will turn round and say you bought a machine, it was warrantied for 12 months. it didnt fail after 13, it failed after 18 months. you can threaten “not fit for purpose” as much as you like but they have the edge in that they were the terms outlined at purchase and by paying hte money you acknowledged them. im not being harsh, just honest.

you have my sympathy but theres not much you can you do. economics-wise you would be better off pressing for paying the callout/labour and getting zanussi to cover the parts. you would have to remember that you prolly wouldnt get a s.h machine to last more than 18 months for less than zanussis call out so it might be the best option.

    dont forget to mention “watchdog”

Re: warranty on new ebay appliances

but where do consumers stand with “european warranties” and im pretty sure sony are one of the companys that offer continental guarantees. i.e bought is us its covered in the us, regardless of state or country, likewise, bought in germany used in the uk, still covered by their eurpean guarantee.

other companys might be different but pretty sure sony uk have to acknowledge at least other european sourced sony apps, just like other european based sony centers would have to acknowledge uk sourced apps.

otherwise why is my home stereo, and car radio both covered by a “european guarantee”

i was told it was slovakia. which was definitely NOT to be confused with the gorenje slovenia factory 🙂

but its fairly common knowledge some gorenje dishwashers have been produced under contract by bosch, in return for some bosch dryers being produced under contract by gorenje.

    back scratching at its best…
