    Really Really useful, thanks mike!

I think the customer may have to bite the bullet on this one tho, because by the time ive done the other work to sort the hinges out and found a suitable timer button, its gonna be almost £160. hes already had a loan machine over christmas too, so methinx

but the one-off copy will certainly be useful for an obsolete servis range i asked about a few months ago 😉

yeh but it states only the freezer is guaranteed to -15* conditions tho. pretty certain when i spoke to beko last, that most of their f/f’s fridge and freezer’s lowest ambience (assuming u want both to work ok) was +10*c . dont quote me on that tho as my memory is terrible as it may be one of the f/f’s where the fridge is chilled directly by the freezer air!

its not a machine thats recently been transported to a new home, where the waste was down a standpipe and is now fitted to a (blocked-off or bumged up) spike?

if i had a tenner for every call out that ive been to where ive exhausted all faults and THEN find out from the customer it was working fine in their old house… 👿

also went out to a h/p last week connected to a spike under the sink in the utility room where after the u bend it went directly outside.

turns out the u bend, even tho it was indoors, because sink was only rarely used it had frozen enough inside the u to cause the machine to time out.

for future reference for other people i believe this is the the tricity bendix aw1402 carcass/drum with a zanussi zwf14070 board, assembled exclusively for DSG (currys/pixmania/dixons)

if my suspicions are correct, word of warning for consumers as ive had 2 t/b aw1402s in the last month with pcb failure due to motor failures – one 14 and the other 19 months old.

also had one last year where the bearings were shot within 6 months. luckily ive only ever sold 3 of them – but its still cost our company money exchanging out of warranty tho.

get the feeling this is e/lux trying to find a way of shifting knowingly problematic stock – hence the sale price, and exclusiveness.

im hoping spindoctor can clarify more on this

Re: Bought An LG. Should I Return It?

I actually like the latest lg’s – never really had to do a major repair on one yet tho – usually all just been blocked filters. all the customers ive been to who have had one, or where ive repaired dryers that were stacked on top of them, the customers have been generally happy with them. personally i think theyre certainly ahead of hotpoints, and zanussi and hoover for build quality, but for only a few quid extra.

Visual quality – i.e plastics and fit and finish is like for like with bosch. we’ve only stocked them for the last 18 months tho, based on the information our customers have provided us based on previous purchases of lg washers. the only thing that annoys me on the models we stock is the mobile phone style tinkles they make when you push the buttons.

❗ dont forget to clean the armature first, and make sure there are no flat/burn spots on it!

retail price for carbons for that model are quite expensive – £20-50 +p&p depending where you buy them (not that they are that expensive to buy trade!) but they are pointless buying if arcing has damage the motor armature as the carbons will then only last 6-12 months (depending on machine usage)

im assuming the outhouse has an electricity supply otherwise you wouldnt have a ff there.

as don has stated, no ref is really suitable for that kind of climate anyway. and from my experience, the reply of “my older one managed ok” is not a reasonable claim for a new one to also work ok, especially if the retailer actually said it was anything other than ok – that includes the term “not ideal”. and if the retailer referred you to the manufacturer to check, then soga doesnt really apply.

your best bet if the internet retailer is dragging their heels over the saga, and there was nothing that is concrete stating that the f/f would work in yout out house is to see if the retailer are willing to offer you a frostguard heater f.o.c. as goodwill. that way they negate the relatively expensive cost of picking up a non-faulty appliance that hotpoint wont then take back, for a relatively inexpensive price, and you get a solution to a problem you will experience with almost every other refrigeration manufacturer!

please note iirc hotpoint say theyre static refrigeration works in ambient temperatures as low as 4 degrees *C. for f/free im not sure, but tbh hotpoint offers one of the lowest ambient temperature guarantees of operation, so anythign else on the market will struggle to match it.

it would certainly negate the need for lenghty hassle, the
