havent checked latest trade for that model but im assuming youd be using gillmans/dad for it don ? i did do a quote for £1999 on one all in, inc gas safe fitting about 6 months ago tho, not sure how much its gone up since then tho!?
PS i note that was for a non ffd model. i was told they were no longer offering models without hob ffd now tho, and the only ones available out there without were built before june and were sold as part of large orders. which would make that price pointless because debenhams/expert logistics etc wont have it in stock, as only the biggest big boys like comet or currys are likely to have it because as all of us in the trade know unless r/m have a big sales contract to complete, all of their “in stock” range is essentially just the carcasses built, and they then put the final coloured panels on according to each further order 😛

ParticipantRe: Are Chest Freezers no longer suitable for Garages ?
the guidance our ref engineer has given us when selling refrigeration for outhouses is the following:
a lot of the issues are down to the dampness of the room.
many garages now are incorporated into the house, whereas older garages were purely standalone. this is what makes the difference
where the garages have one of their largest sides against the main home, and have been insulated, you will find residual heat keeping the air noticibly dryer, therefore in some garages a single door appliance will be fine, even if the ambience drops below the recommended class.
some properties have simple bricks and roof garages, with wafer thin fittings and poorly fitting doors, that then have no regulation over humidty. if you have the appliance sited in one of these then you will tend to have more issues
from a repair perspective the number of calls from customers with r600 gassed ref in outhouses, far outweigh those with the older r134 and cfc gassed ref! dont ask me why its beyond my knowledge.
all we recommend for 0* ambient operation are static hotpoints, 4* for static beko, and 10* for static bosch. most chinese made (lec, frigidaire, etc) are 14* ambient and over…

does it HAVE to be a side by side ? has she ever used one ? theyre a nightmare!
seriously, if you like your frozen pizzas, you will think again 😛

ParticipantRe: New Fitted Kitchen…Which Appliances?
That 3k would have to stretch a bit more to go for what u were thinking of.
I worked out roughly:siemens b/i mw £350
siemens 60 hob £450
siemens s/oven £550
siemens 60 chi/hood £300
elux b/i w/m £700
elux b/i d/w £600
samsung us f/f £850which i make £3800?!?!?
If the mrs has her heart set on water and ice, you can still get table top ice makers, that complete a small load – enough for 2 in 15 mins.
as for cold water on tap, whats wrong with… well a tap 🙂
PS water and ice on a us side by side = less usable room in the freezer than a standard undercounter!
Electrolux and samsung both produce separate upright fridge and freezers with ice and water functions, which offer you the space that you dont get with a US. reliability is still a concern as the latest units havent been out for too long.
you could also alternatively go with a 800 wide/top-fridge from fisher and paykel. they also have a dispenser 🙂
As for the microwave, save urself 200 quid buy a stainless steel panasonic and sit it on the worktop. most of the built-ins will either be daewoo or panasonic internals anyway, so all your paying for is the fancy front and trim. if it must be built in then daewoo make some thats about £190-220 retail, inc the kit, but just make sure you check whether you need the 500mm or 600mm unit 🙂
if i had a strict 3k, id be looking at going bosch over siemens for the ovens as the 5yr siemens warranty only applies to freestanding machines, and bosch over the elux d/w as they are just simply better imo
bosch int d/w £500
bosch double oven £700
vitralux hob – 60cm £300
luxair hood £150
siemens freestanding w/m £500
panasonic s/s t/t m/w £150
leaving you with £700 for a F/F
total cost approx £3000
obviously shave a bit off the oven by going single (£250) and you can put that towards a liebherr or f&p f/fJanuary 6, 2010 at 1:32 am in reply to: Siemens IQ-300 WT36V398GB dryer – country of manufacture? #307964gandh1
ParticipantRe: Siemens IQ-300 WT36V398GB dryer – country of manufacture
pretty certain its about as pucker german as you can get these days i sold one the otehr side of christmas and that was “made in germany”
whether that only refers to the assembly… with all the other parts outsourced, is another thing.

youll be lucky to get an elan 110 for £1800!!!!
i cant even buy them trade for that XD

ParticipantRe: New oven recommendations
also if you have the width available, might be worth looking at 2 single b/i ovens – side by side. thats one of the directions that trends are heading towards recently. it also means if something screws up on one oven your still able to carry on with the other 🙂
hobwise there are very, VERY few extra-wide 4 or 5 burners with no wok burner!

ParticipantRe: hotpoint tdc62
Cheers for that, been too busy with new sales to go out to look at it, and you know what those peasant mortals are like with describing their appliance problems. its even worse when you have a gung-ho DIY one… they way he was rattling off about “stats if ones blown it wont make a circuit will it, or maybe the relays and the motor and the interlock etc cos ive been looking on the internet and they seem to be common problem with hotpoint dryers…” then what do you think was the problem? have i got stock off the shelf blah blah blah ud think hed been on here already… :rolls:
but yes, should he call back tomorrow i shall supply said door catch and if that doesnt work, offer a peak at it if he wants before finally sending it to the scrapheap in the sky…
oh yeah…

ParticipantRe: V Quick Advice Wanted Miele W1613 or W3204?
and as you have a landlord thats that nice they’ll replace it just like that (i wish my landlords custom were that decisive), hide the old aeg and see if it can be fixed cheaply and flog it or store it for when you buy your own property 😀

ParticipantRe: Which washer ??
and to add to dons list, it might be worth giving a 7kg drum siemens a shot as some will also come with a 5 year warranty if you require peace of mind.
if you dont and you want an easily, and affordibly serviced machine opt for a bosch
if you want something built really well i really like the LG’s but service will be an issue, much like the mieles, but the models with direct drive are certainly the quietest!
if you want a reliable machine it really would be worth considering the ise23 http://shop.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/New+Appliances/ISE+Appliances/ISE2+AW23+Washing+Machine+5+Year+Warranty.html
i stock their sister brand with a 2 year warranty who have given me very few issues, considering how many of their sister brand’s 1000 spin budget models ive sold in the last 2 years, ive returned 3x out of almost 200 sold! (that less than 1.6{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}) if i told you (for example hotpoint) the average return rate was 4-6{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} you really can trust the ise. thats why they back it up with a 5yr warranty!gandh1
ParticipantRe: Any reccomendations for a tumble dryer??
we all seem to have moved to condensors from a mixed list of both vented and condensor! ok theyre usually built better than your average vented, but if the chap has a vent hole, then isnt he better off getting one thats better at drying… and cheaper!
also have you considered a 7kg vented gorenje? cracking dryer for usually a lot less than £300!
http://www.gorenje.co.uk/laundry/tumble_dryers?c=178119
p.s. i dont know how much truth there is in the rumour, but apparently they also manufacture bosch’s current classix dryers… and ok – maybe for the £370-£460 price tag, pound for pound, bosch’s werent that great, but if you get a gorenje for less than £300 it starts to be good value again!

ParticipantRe: Looking to buy a Miele…..
to save you any hassle this is the conversation you will get with a net retailer…
customer “hi i bought a miele from you and it doesnt work now”
online store “have you rung miele”
customer “no – i bought it from you”
online store “sorry – you have to contact miele”and thats it basically!
at least an indie will make sure u dont unneccessarily get miele out!

ParticipantRe: Fisher & Paykel versus the rest.
f&p for the refrigeration.
ANY rangemaster for the range if you can stretch your budget. they also have the “name” if you are that way orientated. the only thing i dont like with them are the “solid” doors which feel particularly tinny conpared to their models that have glass windows.
cant say ive worked or supplied a f&P range, but personally id have a new world nw90dfdo if on a tight budget. or if you want a more solid machine for similar price, an end of line cannon, or eg902x from hotpoint whcih are pretty chunky.
im not gonna slate f&p because their nz spec gear is pretty decent but a lot of it wont fit the uk market so i understand whirpool, who have the rights to distributing the brand in the uk, will often source appliances from contract plants to produce a uk spec model under the f&p brand. also getting an element for a f&p range is expensive and hard work – what worries me is the model your wife liked, you mentioned was italian and im sure some of the ranges are produced by nardi, which from my experience of the few ive been out to, werent the greatest inthe world – and iirc u should get same spec and quality with a delonghi or baumatic but with a much lower price tag… not that id buy either of those myself!!
as jonah is a authorised agent im sure he can clarify or correct any points ive made should any be incorrect-i can only go on by what ive been told by my distrbutors lol – but what i do know is that you should go and look at one in the flesh before you buy. and if you then like it, then you should get it from the retailer you viewed it from (assuming in stock) because as a retailer myself, i know they will look after you till the cows come home 🙂

ParticipantRe: viscount cookers
told they are possibly of turkish origin but distributors not 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} – they were bought in to cover a shortfall on basic single oven f/s cookers – until the bekos and amicas became available again…
because they are “new-just in” they’re not sure if they are based on the “better” quality level of beko/nw stock or more “naffer” quality of frigidaire/micromark cookers… because they only distribute them, my worry is that its the latter, which really ARE horrible.
neither qtx or connect recognise the model no. and i dont have a masterpart account to check there. and we have a strict “if we cant supply the parts we wont sell the product” ethos on any goods over £50…
was hoping there were a few other retailers out there who have taken a punt on these ???
