still awaiting eastleigh marks part no. i cant see anything else untoward and a replacement s/l is £450+ so customer will 95{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} be after a replacement… as long as pcb is around £100 mark!

Re: Cancellation of Contracts Made in a Consumer’s Home

makes no sense to me. can anyone elaborate on the following three scenarios???

theoretically and hypothetically a retail company has a business model which is such:

customer books a call out which includes remedial labour over the value of £35, + parts. after assessment at premises, customer decides appliance worth repairing. spares require ordering and take less than 7 days to arrive, therefore meaning repair can and is completed within 7 days of telelphone booking.

customer books a call out which includes remedial labour over the value of £35, + parts. after assessment at premises, customer decides appliance worth repairing. spares require ordering and take more than 7 days to arrive, therefore meaning repair would not be completed within 7 days of telelphone booking. customer cancels repair due to time taken obtaining replacement parts.

customer books a call out which includes remedial labour over the value of £35, + parts. after assessment at premises, customer decides appliance too expensive to be worth repairing. customer offered option to purchase new appliance through same company in lieu of call-out inc remedial labour. Is said customer then bound to paying the aforementioned agreed call-out, or not? and therefore entitled to a free call-out due to inability to diagnose over the phone… in which case:

If offering a callout/repair service are we legally actually OBLIGED to provide a repair ESTIMATE over the phone?

If we are, where do we stand with regards to erroneus symtoms provided by customers relating to said estimate requested. i.e t/d wont dry. implied estimate is for new stats but upon visit t/d turns out not to dry because bearing worn thru and wont turn…

it all sounds like a big headache to me thats unenforceable.

and what i dont understand is why providing a prewritten contract would be illegal? surely by acceptance to receipt of a call out within 7 days of booking, the customer has declined their right to 7 day cooling off period?

i might just walk away if things get any more sillier or GREY.

and when done if you have missed, you might still need a new rear tub to house the bearings

worth doing really, unless your in the surrey area then steer clear! *marks territory*

yeah letting agents like the fact they can “touch base” with you, so they can absolve themselves of all problems!

basicaly – clean nose i.e. decline jobs you are not confident with (as long as they arent too simple!) and u shud be ok,

accept difficult jobs once you have the ability to repair within 5 working days!!!

based on shop feedback, if a 6-7kg toploader style washer was produced, but could be slid under a worktop it would be a winner for most of my customers…!!!

it would just have to be robust enough!!!

for my 2pennyworth penguin is a1 with this – in the space of 2 months just done 2 handle and interlock replacements on these. initially we were also weary of the plastic scorching due to the cost of the interlocks (£40ish), but after the first “step into the dark” it doesnt seem to be a problem! after all the plastic is only there to stop condensation and water vapour dripping onto the board!

Re: Opinions needed re;purchase of new washer and current f/

For my 2 pennyworth ive always found h/p service a-ok as long as your the retailer! being indie, i have the direct line for indie retailer issues, and after ringing, im connected with a tele-girl within 3-4 mins max of being on hold, and they are never too short on experience to help!

As long as my query meets h/p’s c/s criteria i dont have a problem sorting out things for a customer. Tbh burnsey unless the person you bought off of is a multiple, any problem is largely down to your retailer heel digging or having a very poor relationship with h/p!!!

the only issue in 6 years thATS soured my relations with h/p was with a f.free f/f they are refusing to exchange because its past 3 months, and cos the cust initially refused an exchange, something where im told hte engineer virtually gave her no option other than to refuse! and its somehting ongoing so im hoping and expecting it will be sorted out with c/s in the very near future!!!

Re: wp adg450-3 wont finish “most of the time”

cheers mr chris, after the last teka episode kinda recognised its a la smeg pcb, so anyhoos have visually checked the usual capacitor & slow salt disp leakage.

will do soap disp test but not convinced cos in the past that kind of failure has shown almost instantly, and not just waited for the dry cycle, after its been activated…

so basically gut instinct for pcb is pretty much confirmed then. the only nagging doubt is why the lack of rinse/drying is so hotchpotch – approx 1 in 5 times. if it was everytime id feel more confident to say to customer its the board. argh. why are so many things so ambiguous!

Re: wp adG450/3 wont finish “most of the time”

ok this problem child is still causing issues. no idea where to start as everything is visually a-ok…

    model – adg450/3
    11805427460199

6th test in the workshop, various programmes – heres the latest on:
    fast wash-58 min prog…

works fine till 46th minute (on my phones stopwatch)
then a repetitive beep, beep, pause, beep, acompanying a whoosh from the cirm pump. then nothing and it repeats over again.

if you open door after 3rd beep, it will beep 10x times (identical spacing)

whilst door open 45 degree light flashes, rinseaid refill and salt refill are perm on.

if doors shut when 3 beeps beeps, 45 degree light flashing, rinseaid refill and salt refil are lit contantly.

    cancel/reset of 65 degree plates and 65
degree intensive will make d/w drain fine.

Re: Cannon Chester Gas Cooker ignition issue

you should get a gas safe engineer to sort it for you. most will be about £80+ for a call out, due to the certification. but as its a cannon u might be better off getting the cannon/hotpoint/indesit engineer to go out for a fixed fee of about £99, as they will have specific experience of that model. if you can, see if you can also blag the free parts warranty if u can get the recipt off the previous owner and pretending your them 😛

Re: Stoves 900gdo or new Hotpoint dy330gx

ah that might be it. with regards to new for old replacement i note my customers old cannon was fully programmable but the hotpoint is not – just a digital minute minder. so should they be pushing for the stoves as a replacement under that basis ??

it would be like having a base spec ford focus 1.6 to replace a 2.0 that had air con isnt it?
