Participantdoes it have the fluff filter on the heater box?
if it has, rip it off and disconnect the flushing valve
helo_75
Participantnot always, no
test it, megger it. it might be ok
helo_75
Participantthen that might explain why the pip was missing
helo_75
Participantok, ill try and be more specific!
on the wma machines they had a red lock
no problem fitting them , they were keyed, couldnt get it wrong
the wf machines were different and had the white lock… that was keyed too, only it was made to fit the wma machines, and the idea was to fit the white lock to a wma type, but remover the tab and reversre the plug… that way, only problem is, it was no longer keyed
the principals the same.. the red lock will fit the wf types, only again, you have to remove the pip and reverse the plug
the red lock isnt the original lock for the machine
is that better?
helo_75
Participanterm, yes it would
lets just clarify this
the WHITE lock is then new variant
the RED lock is the old one
helo_75
Participantthen someones put an old style one on it and changed the plug round!!!
hello?
helo_75
Participantif you are an industrial maintenance techinician, and you think that the voltage to the element changes as the temperature goes up, what exactly do you repair?
the element is switched on and off by the pcb as the thermistor dictates the temperature
just take the heater box off and look for blockages of fluff, and i think youll find the problem….. and please do it with the plug out… its always a safer option, and any fault can be found with a basic multimeter, with the power off

Participantahh, well
you see, there are two interlocks for that machine
the early, red coloured one, and the new white one
when you replace them, you need to remove the pip on the plug, then turn the plug around
sometimes, with a genuine interlock, theres a leaflet in, explaining this
so, chances are, its had a new lock, or of course, hotpoint started doing it at factory level
maybe the customer forgot theyd had the lock changed?

Participantit is an f01 fault – which tends to be a motor triac fault
bard nd eprom req’d im afraid
helo_75
Participantand youd be right……….
heater, evry time
helo_75
Participantno need
theres a rather long piece of pipe supplied with the appliance, with all the fittings youll need
all you need its a 15mm tap to comnnect to
hope this helps
helo_75
Participantif the heaters gone, and its noisy, and now its doing it again, im just wondering if maybe the drum shaft is broken, and its catching the heater
shouldnt rellay be happenening at that age, but anything is possible these days
helo_75
Participantinterestingly, manufacturers are legally bound to supply spare parts for your appliance for 6 years
im sure its available, although its not something ive ever heard of
id be ringing them and questioning as to why the part is no longer available and what theyre going to do to honour your contract with them which, which will state that theyre supposed to keep you with a working appliance
