Oh please don’t refer to your Sebo as “the hoover” but rather call it a ‘vacuum cleaner’ instead. The word hoover demeans the good name of Sebo.:D

I bet Hoover love the publicity that people inadvertantly give them, I know of many people say they have a hoover and they really have a Dyson! 😛

No need to refer to it as a “vacuum cleaner” either, might as well call it a “Sebo” 😉 , give them some much needed publicity, the number of people that ask me what vacuum cleaner to buy and refuse to buy a Sebo because they haven’t heard of them is unbelieveable. The other reason is cost, they say why should I spend £250 on a vac when I can have one for £20, if you track inflation from 1979 when an Electrolux Z502 cost £80 how the hell can you make a good’un today for £20? There again keeps me in a job, so who am I to complain! 😀

    Oh yes, good choice kittyhen.

It depends where you are in the country GandH1. Up here in Brighouse is very different from Hampshire and London.

Around here there are not alot of rental properties so appliances don’t make alot of difference. And FYI our house is not some shi**y type job either, and the rent is alot more than £200 a month 😉

Like I said before we have everything except a washing machine, dishwasher and tumble drier.

Probably worn bearings on the rotating brush bar. A new one should resolve the issue. 😉

Funny Martin, every time ours comes up for rent we could let it go 10 times over, appliances make NO difference to whether a tennant goes for a property or not. 😉

All we provide is a built in oven, microwave, hob, fridge and freezer. No body has ever asked me to provide a washer or dishwasher.

Re: Best 60cm DW for a rental house

    Hi,

We have a rental house too. We do not supply any whitegoods with the let, because A) People DO NOT respect rental housing, trust me on that and B) Break downs and replacements fall on us. So the tennants have to provide anything they need and if their appliances break down it has nothing to do with me!

So with my own experience of tennants and the rental market I would say not to bother with whitegoods, maybe a fridge and freezer but washing machines and dishwashers are way more trouble than they are worth. It makes no difference whether somebody wants to rent the house anyway. 😉

    Good luck,

    Hi Smarko,

Have a read of this topic.

    appliance-enquiries/rinsing-modern-washing-machines-lack-t44516.html

Also some detergents rinse out easier than others, from personal experience I find Persil far easier to rinse out than Ariel and other Proctor & Gamble detergents.

I have an 800rpm Bosch and it gets washing DRIER than a friends 1600rpm Hotpoint. Its about machine design and how long it spins at top speed etc. 😛

Perhaps given this advice you may adopt a different approach in future and advise mum too?

    Evening Martin,

We have both tried it and some part of the dose always ends up going in on the rinsing cycle. This for me is a serious problem as I suffer from servere eczema and dermatitis and am allergic to all laundry detergents, so is very important my laundry is rinsed to perfection, hence the older machine.

My Mums IAR Siltal should take it all in on the wash fill as I adjusted the pressure switch a while ago and now fills up to the bottom of the door on wash, so that quantity of water should shift it into the drum, however it still leaves some behind and rather annoyingly goes in with the rinses.

Both machines are on the cold supply as there is no available hot supply for my Bosch, and the hot supply in my Mums kitchen has been pinched for the dishwasher!

I take the advice though, and am not having a go at you. 😉

Re: OK to put washing powder into the drum?

    Hi Martin,

My machine is a Bosch and is 16 years old, this funnily enough tumbles while it is filling. However my Mums IAR Siltal Fills 2″ in the bottom of the drum and tumbles with gentle action for 3 minutes (in this time you can see powder granules all over the washing) then fills fully and starts agitating normally.

Neither of us have ever had any damsge done by detergent, incedentally we both use biological bleach containg Persil.

Re: OK to put washing powder into the drum?

Been putting the powder on top of the clothes in the drum for years and had absolutley no trouble, never had anything bleached or damaged. My Mum does the same and she has had absolutley no damage done whatsoever.

I won’t use the drawer, because not all the powder goes into the wash, so ends up going in the rinse cycle, my Mum also reports the same problem. :rolls:

Re: Whirpool AWO 5763, poor rinsing?

    Hi,

Its probably getting worse because overtime the residue is slowly building up in your clothes, so appears to be rinsing worse when you watch the machine.

I fully sympathise with your problem, I have eczema and dermatitis and if my washing is not properly rinsed I’m in trouble, thats why I have a 16 year old Bosch and enough spare parts to keep it going just about forever! It does 4 rinses with water 1/3 up the door.

The only modern machines that seem to rinse well are the American top-loaders, which is only because they completley submerge the washing, as far as I know there is no modern front-loader (except commercial machines) that uses a sufficient amount of water to rinse properly anymore. Although if anyone wants to correct me feel free. 😉

Re: Whirpool AWO 5763, poor rinsing?

    Hi,

Easy, modern washing machines no longer use enough water to rinse properly. People wanted those silly “A” ratings and water use has had to decrease dramatically in order to comply. The results a load now takes 2 hours to wash and the load is not rinsed properly.

It may also have a partially blocked filter, has the machine been like this since new or has it started recently? I would still think it is my first point though.

Re: ISE10 Washing Machine or similar

    Hi,

Is there anyway you could make space for a top loader? Maytag make some machines for heavy duty applications, and have a wash time of about 30 minutes, some have higher than normal capacitys too. There are downsides though, high water use and these machines do not have a heater so your hot water supply has to be good enough or the wash results may be compramised.

This may be a better option than Asko or Miele etc.

I know where you are coming from with machines not lasting, my parents have the same problem, they wash about 20 loads a week and machines will not take that punishment. They could finish the best domestic Miele in less than 5 years (designed for 20 years they say, what they don’t tell you is thats equates to only 4 loads a week)! However they have a decade old Siltal which has only had bearings, belt, brushes and a new pump. I would recommend Siltal to you on personal experience, but wouldn’t because they like Bosch do not make machines of the quality they used to and my parents machine may be a fluke, plus it is a domestic machine!! 😕
As far as I know they are going to replace with Schulthess/JLA 6 (same thing) when the Siltal packs up for good.

The WFF2001 was a good machine. I have the previous model the WFF2000 now 16 years old and still runs properly, I too think modern Bosch are not a patch on these machines.

The text on the drawer looks very Fagor styled though. 😮

We have a decade old Siltal and it doesn’t look anything like that. Nothing since has come close to looking like it either. Unless its older than 10 years.
