ModeratorRe: UN51203 pump
No Bob, its is the same basic pump body as on the Hotpoint 1601603, secured by three screws, but I don’t want to fit one without an overload.

Apologies for late reply. This could be due to moving the appliance. The controls are a little flimsy on these machines and robust movement can often displace connections or even break the control PCB’s. Very careful visual inspection of all of the controls would be the first step. Investing in better quality may be the second. 😥
Plug out before you have a poke around. 😉

OK, I’ll rephrase the question, 🙂 Anyone know a part number for a Zanussi pump similar to a UN51203 that does have an overload fitted. ❓

ModeratorRe: Hotpoint WD420 not moving through programme
How long have you left it before deciding it was not going to move on?
Almost all faults on this machine should generate an error code by flashing a certain combination of the Option neon lights. The wash times on modern machines are a great deal longer than machines from a few years ago.
Set it on a wash programme and after about 10 minutes go and observe your electricity meter. Make sure that you do not have any other high current appliances running, cooker, kettle, immersion heater etc. If the heater in the washing machine is in operation, and depending on the type of meter you have you will see the disc spinning quite quickly or the red neon light flashing at very short intervals. If either of these can be observed then the machine is on a heat cycle. It will not advance until it reaches the correct temperature for the selected programme.
If the machine was not heating, or overheating an error code should be displayed.
Jim.

Thanks Greg, will bear those points in mind. Harness looked fine though.

Whilst we cannot go into the precise details on dismantling your machine, you could give us the full model number, that may help us give you some clues.

ModeratorRe: hotpoint wf 240
Best to post by number of the flashing neon if you can. Names of neons vary from model to model but codes are the same.
This one is neon 1 flashing . The On/Off flashes for all error codes.
You have the dreaded 8 flashes or F08 Supposed to be heater relay fault . Best of luck. 😥
If you want a sleepless night then enter “8 flashes” in the Search facility. All the Indesit/Ariston/Hotpoint ones will give you plenty to think about. 😉

Check for obvious loose wiring or broken connections on the top of the dryer heater box, in particular the very thin wires going to the NTC.

ModeratorRe: How embarrassing
I actually spoke to Sean whilst at the house. I had already decided that the PCB was at fault before I asked him to ring me. It energised the fill valve on all settings inc drain & spin, even when I pressed the Start/Cancel button the valve was still energised even though all the neons where off. I removed the plug from the pressure switch and valves still had power. Even when I tried to enter the diagnostics, all it would do is fill.
Due to the urgent need to sort this one, I dashed down to Star Supplies and removed the full console & facia from the DIT machine that was due to be uplifted ( thank god it was still there). It was Sean who suggested this & also changing the pressure switch at the same time, as a belt & braces fix. The displaced parts have been refitted to the machine at Star Supplies but I have not reconnected the harness and have written ‘module faulty’ on the back of same to make sure it is not re used.

The best thing to do is to contact them, it won’t cost you anything to ask, not personally sure of the extent of information available.

ModeratorRe: White Knight T/D door handle
Will have to phone her if possible, wont have the time to go back, I was actually repairing the washer this morning. I thought last Monday was bad with 27 phone calls in the day, just logged my 35th call today alone. 😯
All I can see on Masterpart are complete Ignis doors. 😥
PS. It is a small square floppy handle.
