ModeratorRe: John Lewis Machines
The last time I was in John Lewis at the Trafford Centre I had a wander round the Whitegoods section ( as you do 😉 ) They had a couple of LG machines and a small working model supposedly showing how stable the direct drive motor was. It was two perspex boxes with a small drum mounted on small suspension legs inside each box. The direct drive drum ran perfectly smoothly whilst the belt driven one wobbled all over the place. Not sure if this was due to the small red block bolted on the inside of the belt driven drum or not. 😉 😆

What is the JL machine under the skin. ❓iadom
ModeratorRe: WMA Drive Belt
Or you could have read every thread on the forum, if you had you may have stumbled across this, 4th post down. 😉 😀
WMA belt change takes less than three minutes from opening the toolbox to refitting the lid.

‘overloading’ total nonsense, the clothes do not come into any contact whatsoever with the dryer assy or the fan and could not possibly cause the fan to come loose, ( no belt BTW the fan is fixed to the fan motor with a small nut & lockwasher)
‘less than suitable design’ now you are talking 😥 , what you have is a Hotpoint machine with an Indesit dryer assembly ( and awful Indesit electronics to boot).
If the fan keeps coming loose then it would seem that the problem lies with the fan motor shaft and fixing nut.I have seen the odd wire pull off the fan motor but have not as yet seen a fan come loose. Also if the fan was loose the engineer would have had to remove the top of the heater box to refit the fan to the motor, not really possible in 5 minutes. Also, if the heater terminals are about six or seven inches ( don’t do metric) apart, as opposed to both heater terminals being close together then you have the old type heater and duct assembly which has been considerably modified to cure constant stat failure.
You may be better off looking for a reliable independant engineer. Try the link in my sig. Remember you do have a five year parts guarantee but would have to pay the Indecent Company almost £90.00 for the labour.
Plug out at all times if you have the lid off.

A funny extract from an article in todays Telegraph.
‘This is quite a series for bowling actions, what with Monty, Muttiah Mularitharan, and a Sri Lankan with the lowest arm witnessed in international cricket, Lasith Malinga. He learned to bowl this way (as the best way of making it swing) in beach cricket, and the surprise element could never have been greater than when he was running in past a group of picnickers. It’s not hard to imagine someone passing the plate on the picnic rug, Malinga’s outstretched arm whipping through, and the startled batsman being yorked by a reverse-swinging buttered scone.’ 😆

No last error info on these, other than the fault codes already listed in the ‘Known Error codes’ thread.
Are you having a specific problem Tony?

If you can remove the old bearings easily then go for the bearing kit. A saving of around £20.00 . Having said that I almost always replace the rear half complete these days. It saves so much time wasting hassle and as long as someone hasn’t already opened the box 😉 , it should come with a new heater and two new suspension pegs, these pegs are a ‘must fit ‘when refitting drum assy into a machine.
I do find that every other one I get from Masterpart has the heater and pegs missing. 😥

Have you checked the control module for dry joints, very common on heater relay, a blob of solder or a bridge link usually does the trick.

Suggests heater fault, may be heater itself, very common, this is an Indesit after all 😥 , could be related wiring or control module.
The only way to be certain is to test the heater etc, with the proper electrical test equipment. If you don’t have access to this try the link in my sig to see if we have someone who can help you.

If the new display PCB came from Indesit then it should have had any such information supplied. The display PCB now used on production and issued as a spare is 090832, this is different to the one used before serial number 20408.0001 (April 2002)
models before this serial number need a new power module as well. 😥
That may be the reason it will not work. 😕

Yep, last five wickets down for only 4 runs, pathetic but at least there is still plenty of time left in the game. That Malinga’s action is the strangest one I have seen since Jimmy ( I mean Paul) Adams the South African who used to be looking at his boots in his delivery stride, Malinga’s arm is so low he is almost bowling underarm. Apparently in a recent test against New Zealand the batsmen asked the umpires to wrap a sweater in front of their legs as they couldn’t pick the ball up otherwise.
