ModeratorRe: Brant d/w & washing up liquid
Most bars of soap have a dramatic effect at reducing suds in appliances, one or two like Dove or Camay will not work, you just have to try them. In the old twin tub days, oversoaping of the spinner was a common fault. Just got the big block of Fairy or Sunlight and rubbed it it all over the spin can and the detergent vanished like magic.
If I get an automatic that is over soaped, rather than going through loads of rinses I just put the bar of soap in the hot fill side of the dispenser, fill it once and the foam will dissapear before your very eyes, much faster than fabric conditioner. If you use bubble bath at home, notice how if you use a bar of soap, most of the time the bubbles will disperse rapidly, unless it is one of the more poncy scented types. πiadom

I have sneaked one or two in, in the past few weeks, hows the Hotpoint WD71 coming along Chris?, I am on tenterhooks awaiting the final dΓ©nouement. π
Just a thought, is it possible for a mod to merge two threads with this BB software? noticed that ‘tonty’ has posted two questions about the same basic fault in the washer/ dryer forum.

Soap drawer leaks are quite common on this machine, after cleaning out the drawer as Ken suggests, make sure that your water pressure is not to high, adjust the inlet with the taps to the machine so that you get a steady flow rather than a loud gushing, hissing noise. Also make sure that if you are using powder or tablets ( if not you should be) that the small blue divider at the back of the soap drawer is situated correctly. If it is you should see a small tumbler pouring powder facing you on the top face of the divider. The other position is for liquids and will cause the powder to flow over the sides of the drawer if it is the wrong way round.
As yet I have not seen any of the later modified drum/bearing kits fail on these machines. My fingers are well and truly crossed ATM. π

The only other thing I can suggest is to ask your spares supplier to order a manual for an SD98, they usually charge a silly price for a few pages, sometimes photcopied, but if it gets you out of trouble. You could always hijack a Hotperloni engineer and hope that he is in a good mood and does cooker repairs. π

Tell her that she has my permission to check all pockets and keep everything that she finds. π
When the sock is warm, wet and soaked with detergent it will slip through the smallest of gaps.iadom

SEME the supplier this time , should I risk fitting these or demand another 4 of the more up to date batch no. from SEME.
Am I right in thinking it was the brownish colour holders that caused the problem about a year ago.
If I was sent these I would return them at once, don’t have any problems with the white ones, have seen 16146077’s burn out in the holders as well.
The suppliers are well aware of these dodgy brushes and you should send them back from whence they came.

ModeratorRe: indesit IDL 40
Apart from checking obvious such as individual components, wiring harness etc and getting the drain pump to run by operating the float switch, module failure could be a cause. Slight problem with the modules on these, two different ones, not interchangeable.
Instructions are……..Do not discard suspect module until fault has been confirmed as cleared. If the card is not faulty the new card may not come off the factory test cycle if the machine has other component or earth faults.
Refitting the original module may be the only way of getting the machine back to a ‘working fault position’.iadom

A very common occurrence, they will get between the seal and the drum, you should avoid overloading and if possible use a ‘washbag’ for all small items, and think yourself lucky regarding the Β£1 coin, on machines with nylon outer drums these can damage the drum beyond repair, often resulting in a new appliance being required.

My latest batch of white ones are batch P103645. If they follow in numerical sequence then yours would appear to be quite old.

ModeratorRe: 1600474 Brushes Again
Sounds like someone is sending out old stock. The only problem I have had recently is that one or two of the holders have been a very tight fit.
Not had anything other than white for some time, they would be sent straight back otherwise. π
