    Re: WMA30 Belt

    Make sure you use either a genuine belt or the correct pattern belt, it must be electrically conductive. Qualtex POL 72 is one alternative but it will usually have EL as part of the code on the belt. If you want to know how to fit one in under 2 minutes you only have to ask 😉

    To quote from an Eddie Murphy film, “None of the above”. You should be prepared to spend a little bit more and buy something like a Bosch, with modern washing machines the old saying, “you only get what you pay for ” is more true today than it ever was. If a £200 machine lasts you three to four years ( if your lucky these days) and a £300 to £400 machine lasts you ten to fifteen years then the maths are simple, together with less breakdowns along the way.

    Not sure about the Samsung, but I would hazard a guess that if it is around £200 then it will not be decent quality, also spares could be a problem. The other three on your list are all from Italian owned companies. They have managed to do to the British domestic appliance industry something that Mussolini could not, although truth be told those companies have been on the slide for years.

    Hoover=Candy
    Hotpoint= Indesit
    Servis = Merloni ( a different one to the Indesit Merloni)

    Re: Tumble Dryer Help

    In theory, as long as the motor is ‘capcitor run’ which is almost all modern tumble dryers, it would run. The main problems would be with the filters. If they are door mounted, or in a duct at the front, they would foul the door if the machine was inverted, Also fluff and lint build up could occur around components that may cause a fire. Your warranty would almost certainly be void if you installed and ran most dryers in this position. Have you thought of a small set of steps. :)…… Many years ago, English Electric had a dryer that could be used upside down so that it could be stacked on a washer, it had two separate motor relays mounted side by side, one of which was upside down. I do not know of any modern equivalents.

    Re: hotpoint oven

    Spares should not be a problem, asking here at UKWG’s is as good a place as any. If you look closely at the inner liners etc, you should see some small clamps or something similar to hold the stat, most stats are situated at the back, top of the oven. Unfortunately, wiring diagrams are copyright, so unless you can strike up a close friendship with your local Hotpoint/Merloni engineer you will find that your biggest problem.

    Thanks Dave, I had tried the Beeb, Annova, Reuters etc. I think that deserves a place on the front page. Warnie is not the only spinner in Oz then. 😀 Have you see the picture, a classic. 😆

    The first and best advice you will ever receive is, don’t touch the machine inside whilst it is plugged in. :zap:

    The machine and heater need to be checked out with the proper test equipment. AND THE PLUG REMOVED. 😉 The water could have got into other components as well.

    It can give you quite a shock, was repairing a washer in a garage the other week when the dryer at the side of it suddenly burst into life for a couple of seconds. :zap:

    I’ll re arrange that, get a better new machine, something that you will not get for £195.00 😥

    just work out how much these cheapo, disposable machines are costing you in the long term.

    Same answer to your last question, snb. 🙂

    Re: Hotpoint Ultima WMA60 Spin problem

    It is possible that something is stuck under the drum, you should be able to feel it restricting the rotation though. If your date code proves that the machine is under 5 years old then Hotpoint would repair it under their five years parts warranty. The date code is the first two numbers of the serial number on the door near the hinge. Maximum cost if they do repair will be a modest 🙄 £90.00, still a lot cheaper than a new machine, I have not yet had to change a module on this type of machine. Out of balance is measured by the control module, it senses the load on the motor as the clothes are lifted and then dropped down the other side, if the difference is to great then the machine will not spin. Absolutely no way to override, caused by washing single heavy items etc.

    With regard to the lifters, one thing that will cause them to come adrift is washing trainers in the machine, that is a definate no no, on this type of drum. There is a correct way of refitting the lifters as well.

    Failing that you could always try Repairs@ 😉

    A bit misleading, should say module and not timer, will alter it. 🙂

    Your machine has the 100 bit controls.

    Re: WMA31 module failure.

    I have for some time now replaced the door lock ‘just in case’ , normally I find tracks blown caused by, motor/wiring harness problems. This is the first one I have had with this chip damaged.
