    Re: John Lewis E52?

Thanks Barry, that sounds feasible as she says that it is intermittent and usually runs for at least 30 minutes before failing. I would have expected it to show an E50 error message but hey ho. 🙁

Heater insulation a common fault on these giving exactly those symptoms.

Sadly you may have wrecked it, looks like new washer time.

What with your WMD960 problems you really are learning the hard way. 🙁

What you should have done is switched the machine back on and made a proper note of which of the right hand vertical lights are on steady when the others are flashing, that is the error code.

Do you mean the flat, plastic, flexible circuit that plugs into the console pcb?
A very delicate piece of equipment that you may have damaged. Did you refit it the right way round, it will fit both ways but the thin plastic strip should come upwards from the connector, not down.

Sadly this part has been totally obsolete for many years now. 🙁

I did suspect that but with no prior experience wasn’t sure.

looked at the tech info and can see no sign of any inline fuses that could be responsible. 🙁

Unfortunately I don’t have any technical info for this recent model, however the fill valves do require mains voltage to operate.

Are you seeing any error codes, any lights flashing or on steady? you may need to leave it a few minutes for certain error codes to show.

    Regards, Alex.
None of the trade members would advocate live testing of any kind, as for ‘applying AC current’ any mention of such practise would lead to a refusal to continue to offer help on this matter. :rolls:

With the main plug out a continuity test of the wiring from the fan motor to the main pcb would be advisable. The fan motors are not a common failure but it does happen.

Yes, you will have to completely remove the dryer housing and physically check that the motor/fan will spin freely. This would be as good a time as any to check/clean the condenser filter whist you have the dryer assy off. 😉

No, if the boards are faulty then get onto Hotpoint and take advantage of the five year parts warranty .

F12 error code. Communications error, if you are very lucky it will just be loose connections between the two circuit boards. The plugs are quite weak. You need to check and squeeze the small plugs gently to see if that cures the fault.

If that doesn’t cure it then one of the pcb’s may be faulty. be sure to remove the mains plug first.

Difficult to say, error codes are given by flashing the lights not keeping them on steady. Do those lights not cancel when you press the buttons as they are selectable option buttons.

What happens if you set it to spin?

You will never guess, but lights 2+3 signify that door lock won’t close or open. 🙂
Is the machine draining correctly, have you checked/cleaned out the pump filter recently?
Could be faulty door lock or even faulty main pcb.

Just double checked that model number and that machine has a 3 phase motor so no brushes to check just the wiring connections.
